Because I have a daughter who will be nearly 2 when we get married we are going to have the reception from 11:30am till 5:30pm. It is not going to be formal and we are not having a sit down meal, any suggestion for daytime entertainment to keep guests entertained and to give the reception a party feel?

I used to play taiko (Japanese drums) and our group did a few wedding receptions. Maybe you could find some local dance/music groups to perform/instruct if it's in your budget and if you have the space. Or you could just hire a DJ, or maybe rent a karaoke machine. If there's going to be a lot of kids present you could have a juice/smoothie bar. Your reception could have a theme (like Hawaiian, your favorite movie/tv series, rainforest, etc.) and you could have activities that relate to the theme to make it feel more like a party.

If you have a few children coming organise some games. Try involving adults if possible.

Games ideas....

Dress the mummy, Have a few teams of four or five people wrap toilet roll (cheap ones) round a poor adult until it is all gone. The team who uses up all rolls first wins.

Adult musical chairs or adult races where they must dress in kids clothes at the end of race and return like in relay style...always entertains the kids.

Childrens musical bumps or sleeping lions.

Childrens treasure hunt. Draw a map on A4 paper (or copy pic online). Divide the picture up into grids and photocopy to amount needed. Get the kids to colour them in. Have two or three winners. One or two depending on ages for best colouring and one for picking treasure square. Will keep children amused during speeches!

If you have old enough and brave enough children get them to put together a dance and song routine such as classics like YMCA.

Be brave and go for a karaoke machine.

Hope you like a couple of the suggestions, but if not have a great time anyway.

You can get a few acts these days such as someone pretending to be Del Boy, Basil Faulty, Elvis etc etc. Have a look on www.stripagram.co.uk they have a section on entertainers and are a bonafide organisation to book through. Good luck on your wedding Day, it is sweet you have your daughter in mind :)

I'd just hire a DJ, that's all we did. Our whole wedding wasn't that formal, I got married in mauve but not having a sit down meal, why?? All we had was a buffett with veges & beef or chicken.

are you able to provide greater information? hues, is there a topic, what variety of area? As a occasion fashion designer i'm chock packed with innovations yet without understanding a sprint greater its stressful to offer one which will somewhat greater healthy you. I understand your candle delimma on the grounds that we are observing an afternoon reception besides. an exceptionally stylish concept that has been catching on these days is to plant wheat grass in containers, or wheat for fall, and so on. Use them as a living centerpiece and encompass with river stones. For a spring wedding ceremony you need to use silk plant existence (greater much less costly than genuine) or you need to use candy to make "plant existence" and have them growing to be out of the grass. yet another determination is to pass to the nursery and %. up bedding plant life on your hues like mums, pansies, in spite of they have reachable. you will get an entire flat for like $12 which might do quite a few tables and all you will prefer to do is transplant them into prettier containers or for a united states of america look you may purely hide the prevailing containers with burlap, superb fabric, or ribbon. After the marriage use them on your place or donate them to a park. (be conscious: in case you donate them it somewhat is a tax deduction so which you pay much less on the tip of the twelve months) you additionally can get lanterns. get rid of the candles and rather you may positioned a single flower or in line with danger a butterfly (presented they have sufficient room to flutter slightly and you supply air supply and a few leaves or some thing to munch on, then launch into wild afterwards)

Just have a running buffet, and some music. Try using a marquee in a pub garden, where you get the privacy, the relaxed atmosphere, and a venue for a buffet.
