I am having a VERY small formal wedding in Las Vegas with one bridesmaid. Do you think it's ok for her to wear a black dress with a little white (shawl or bow around the waist)???

I don't want stinky ciggarettes funking up my reception. I am not a smoker, HTB is a former smoker but quit for me. Orginally it was no big deal since the covered patio was attached to the reception space. With our new location there is no designated smoking area and people have started to gripe.

The smoking/non-smoking people on the guest list is about 50/50....how do I handle it so half my reception isn't spending all night in the parking lot? Can they go a few hours without lighting up or am I having a bridezilla moment?

We are tossing around the idea of getting married at the science center. The reception would be outdoors on the patio or indoors in the big lobby if the weather is bad. Usual food, dancing, music. They only allow beer and wine. The ceremony would take place in the planetarium, candlelit with either the stars or a stormy sky above us.

My HTB is worried that people will think a wedding ceremony in a planetarium is odd......

There is a new book out called "The Wedding-Industrial Complex Exposed: A new book reveals that many long-treasured wedding rituals were invented to separate happy couples from their dough.

It's so naive to me and so immature to spend dozens of thousands of dollars on a one day affair.. And it's funny cause the country that spends the most money on weddings is also the country with the highest number of divorces.. figures.

We are looking to get married. I do not want to spend a lot since we already have kids. I was thinking intimate courthouse in the day and maybe Friday/Saturday evening rent a social hall to just have a party. I like the idea of a restaurant catering our fav foods, open bar, dj and just make it very fun and informal. I would not want any china etc, we could do paper plates, no dress code. I would probably just wear a party dress since to the courthouse probably wear a white suit. I would just send out regular written invitations and just say its a party to celebrate our life together and I would not want any presents. I would just want this to be a fun evening for friends, family to enjoy plus we are really laid back so this would be great for us however many of our friends had lavish weddings/receptions so I am sure this will catch them off gaurd and they will probably criticize us for celebrating our wedding this way. What would you think if you were just invited to a party?

My friend is getting married and I went to her bridal shower. For this shower I bought something off the registry list that was included. Should I buy her something for the wedding day? Any advice is welcome!

A group of friends when in on a gift of cold hard cash for a friend's wedding. We were going to get $350 in all one dollar bills and stack it in a briefcase.....however, it actually ended up looking pretty sad in the large case! We are looking for clever/funny packaging ideas to present it!

I am in a wedding tomorrow and I am the matron of honor. Today, while decorating, I saw the wedding handout and saw that she has another matron of honor besides me and a maid of honor as well. She then has three more bridesmaids. She was my maid of honor in my wedding and we had always said that we would be each other's maid of honor as we had grown up together since birth. Is it just me, or does anyone else think this was extremely rude? I was the only one of the three that didn't know that this was how it was going to be. Am I brat or are my feelings justified?

I am getting married next year and we want everything to be as cheap as possible but still very elegant. We think there are ways to save tons of money but most people don't choose to do some research!

So, here is my idea...rather than give a traditional type favor that will collect dust, we thought of printing out a 4X6 or 5X7 black and white picture of us from walmart (so it's only 19 cents a piece, a little more for a bigger size) and then writing a thank you note on the back. we also think we'll do a centerpiece giveaway at each table.

does anyone think this idea is really bad?? let me kno please!! and if you have ideas, i would LOVE to hear them!!

A former supervisor invited me and my boyfriend to her upcoming wedding. I still see her maybe 1-2x/year to catch up on things. I've never met her fiance but I thought it was really nice of her to invite us. There was no registry mentioned so I'm planning on giving money.....but I don't know how much to give. Any ideas???

Do you find that you love your children more deeply than your spouse? I find this tendency to be more prevalent in women, who I often hear claim to love their children more than their husband. Please let me know if you do/don't. And if you don't mind, please state your gender and age. I appreciate it.

Ok here is my dilemma. After the wedding, we went home and crashed. Husband opened all cards and tucked away all checks and cash. We opened all gifts next morning. Some where lost in transit, cards were not placed with gifts, gifts had no cards, so I haven't a clue who gave what, or if they gave at all. I have guest list from wedding I can go by for who attended!!! What do I do?!?!

I am going to a wedding in August, it is at 3pm with a fancy dinner/reception afterwards. She said it is semi-formal. Any good ideas where I can get a nice, elegant, non clevage showing dress to wear for under 75 bucks?
