I am getting married next year and we want everything to be as cheap as possible but still very elegant. We think there are ways to save tons of money but most people don't choose to do some research!

So, here is my idea...rather than give a traditional type favor that will collect dust, we thought of printing out a 4X6 or 5X7 black and white picture of us from walmart (so it's only 19 cents a piece, a little more for a bigger size) and then writing a thank you note on the back. we also think we'll do a centerpiece giveaway at each table.

does anyone think this idea is really bad?? let me kno please!! and if you have ideas, i would LOVE to hear them!!

Thanks for the answers! But I'm not sure why everyone is assuming this is my thank-you card?? A typical wedding favour has some sort of tag on it that says "thank you being apart of our special day". I understand that I need to send a thank you card after the wedding, I'm not THAT cheap. But thanks for everyones opinions!

Personally, I am not crazy about pictures unless they are of my child. I could look at his pictrues all day (he's a baby). But if I got a picture at a wedding, it might end up left behind or tossed in a box or drawer. Think about the majority of your guests. Are the the type that like pictures? Do they have collages around their house? Will they ever look at them?

There are tons of favor ideas that are pretty cheap. Look around and see if you like anything else better. Favors are also optional.

For centerpieces, look at http://www.99centwholesale.com I got some bud vases and flowers there VERY cheap. I got a box of 18 vases for 11.80. Their inventory changes all the time, so you can periodically check back.

For favors, you could get votive cups or something like that, printed very cheaply at http://www.discountmugs.com

Every wedding gives away the centerpices, but that's only 1 centerpiece to every 8 people seated at a table.
The pictures goes with thank you notes after the wedding.
So now what is your favor?????????
Why not buy little bottles of champagne, you can get them for about $1.00 each. Have ribbons made with names & date and tie around.

Hmmm, just my opinion but I'm not sure I would call a picture of you and the groom a wedding favor. You don't technically have to do wedding favors and can just call this picture of you and the groom a thank you for sharing their day with you but I wouldn't call this a wedding favor.

If you want a cheap idea for wedding favors that guests can actually use and not throw away like plastic swans, I've included a link for glass photo coasters. You can use these coasters to double as placecards or whatever you would like. They're only $1.09 for a set of two and you could even split them up so each guest could go home with one.

My centerpieces were cakes. Its edible and It did not go to waste (cheaper than a tiered cake too).

We went to Michaels every Sunday with the 40% off coupon and bought stuff all week long.

www.winkflash.com had cheaper wallet prints then that. I got some printed for our thank you cards.

Edible favors are great too they usually dont go to waste. Or you can do the donation thing.

Thank you notes are NOT a "pick a card - any card" type affair. Thank you notes are mailed to the givers individually - preferably with a short, handwritten note of significance.

So don't think you can get by with the pix of you and yours as a thank you note.

Tacky-tacky-tacky. No no no. Cheap: yes. Elegant: Nope. Appropriate thank you notes: Not on your tin-type.

If you want elegant, cheap wedding favors, just do the handful of Jordan almonds or a couple of heart-shaped home-made coconut cookies with your names piped in royal icing tied up in little tulle bags.

See, wedding favors are supposed to be something small and easy to deal with - such as cookies etc. Not some kind of elaborate gift.

It's a cute idea! Another idea is to do CD's... That's what I'm doing. It's going to be $30 for 50 favors! I'm a designer, email me if you need someone to design the covers for you. Then you can print them out on your computer, cut them to size and burn your favorite songs.

I think thats a great idea... However, if you print it on non-glossy paper... maybe fancy cardstock... it would have more of an art flare to it.

Dont let the $ issue get you down. You can do a ton of party favors, like candy... and wrap in organza. Even M&Ms or mints, or licorice... or butterscotch. You can buy these in bulk - like 200+ for like $20 or so and then wrap them in cheap organza with ribbon...

Lots of cheapo ideas... edibles are always a way. :)

congratulations

1. I hope you also send an addtional thank-you note that is personal addressing the gift after the wedding.
2. Please frame them- it's not elegant if it's just a loose pictures- we all know a reprint cost 10 cents and it will get smash in people pockets and purses.

I think it would be better to just cut out favors all together. What would I do with a 4x6 picture of the couple? especially considering I probably already took a lot of pics of you in your dress & tux.
