when you are getting married do you keep your engagement ring and just get a matching band or do you get and entirely new set? How does the process work for the man? Do you just buy him a wedding band?

Okay, my best friend is getting married to my brother in law. They are having this gigantic wedding party and I'm a little confused about who does what.

The plan is for my husband and I to be the matron of honor and the married best man (I don't know what else to call it) (My husband is the grooms oldest brother). While the bride's sister and the groom's youngest brother are the maid of honor and the best man. However, by the time this wedding happens, the youngest brother will also be married.

So how do we decide who does what? Who takes the speech responsibilities, bachelor party/bridal shower stuff and who signs the freaking marriage license? Lord, I am so confused.

I would think that Kenny and I would be the primary for everything and then just asking for the inputs of the secondaries (this is starting to sound like a game plan for a football game) but I don't know.

Is there anyone who can help shed light on the subject? I had a small wedding,so this is WAY out of my league.

I am getting married in a church in my hometown. The drive to the church for guest will be anywhere from 2 hours to 5 mins depending on where they live. The church is in a small town and due to there not being any nice receptions sites the reception will be 40 mins away. I have looked for a church in the same town where the reception will be but either they don't do services for non members or it adds up to $600 in fees. Have you been to weddings like this and how do you think my guest will feel.

I'd also like to add that my fiance and I are not having the wedding where we live. The place we chose is in the middle of both our families and we have a longer drive than any of our guest. :)

eat/eating the top layer of your wedding cake on your 1 year anniversary? our 1 year is comming up on april 1. just 3 weeks away!! we have saved ours. we used one of thoes freezer sealers that suck all the air out before you freeze something, so im hoping it wont be freezer burned.

anyway, just wondering to thoes who did save their top layer, did you eat it? was it good or did it taste like cardboard?

the lady, that made our cake offered to make us a new one for our anniversary, but since i hate her and she almost made our cake fall over at the wedding(long story), i will not be using her services.

we are going out of town for our anniversary, and dont think we need to bring the whole entire layer. we were thinking about cutting it in half. has anyone done this? if so, how did it work out?

thanks in advance :o)

Im getting married June 9th. I have pale skin and would like a little color before then. When should I start tanning and how long do you go for? If you couldnt tell, I have never been in a tanning bed. I know that with my fair skin it isnt the best idea to tan anyways, so the least amount of tanning I can do would be good.

She does not like me and everyone knows it, but for some reason my future-mother-in-law refuses to accept that fact. I don't want to disapoint her because I like her.

My bf keeps telling me how he can't wait to marry me. He recently asked me for my ring size, so my question is how close do you think the proposal is? I overheard a friend of his saying it's probably soon, but how soon if he just asked my ring size? I'm nervous, and I'd like to be a little prepared.

My brother's fiance is having a wedding shower next week. We found out her father, brother, and uncles were also invited. Am I missing something here? Aren't showers supposed to be women only? I don't see why they need to be there?

I hope this is not a dumb question, but I honestly have no clue about planning weddings, but my question is. Does your wedding reception have to be the same color scheme as your wedding ceremony? I really hope this isn't stupid of me!

My fiance and I are thinking of having a small civil ceremony since we are not religious. I do want some family to be there and I also don't want it to be in some drab courtroom. So I guess my questions are, is it ok to have a few guests and can I decorate a little? Or is it just go in and do it and get out? Please, if anyone has had a civil ceremony or has been to one please tell me what to expect! Thanks!

I have my engagement ring, but seen a really nice ring from Tiffany I want to get (its plain without any stones). I intend to wear it on my other hand (right hand), but do you think it will take the focus off my engagement ring?

I wouldn't mind if I was married, and had a wedding band, but with just an engagement ring, I don't want to take the shine away from it....

I usually think during the engagement stage its nice just to have the engagement ring, and this be the only ring to wear... this is just my opinion, not fact.

...I hope this all makes sense...!lol

What do you guys think!?

Cheers for all your advice

My best friend is getting married in April. It's going to be a very small affair. The planning is also kind of rushed, her fiance is in bootcamp for the navy right now and they are going to get married during the week he is home after graduating before he leaves again to go the Navy School. Anyway we are doing most of the work ourselves, we are making the cake and all the food, flowers etc. We already knoe what we're doing for the cake but we need some food ideas, we are just going to do like finger foods and appetizers, so does anyone have any good ideas or recipes? Thanks.

If so, where and would you recommend the store or a specific salesperson? We're not looking to break the bank here, just a carat.

I'm getting married in Oct. of 2008 and I wanted to have lilies in my bouquet, but not if they're out of season ($$). I wanted specifically white oriental lilies, and I wanted to be prepared when I went to the florist.

Also, if you love lilies and had them in your bouquet or just have a favorite type, let me know - suggestions welcome!
