I am getting married in a church in my hometown. It is a small town and there aren't any nice halls to have the reception. I am having my reception in a nice place that will already be decorated but it is 40mins away. What do you think about it?

I don't see it as a problem at all. In some cities it takes that long to get from one place to another anyway. Don't worry so much about what your guests are going to think. If you like the church and the hall then book them. You're worth the travel time.

Good Luck

In my Country A Bus or Two is Hired to take Guests to Weddings if it is very far . Anyway People will have Consumed Alcohol naturally and they wont be driving so they Order Taxis or else The People who is paying for the Wedding Hires the Bus. Sometimes the Wedding Reception is at an Country Hotel maybe over a 100 Miles away beside a Lake nice Wedding Pictures. I am from Ireland but the same thing Applies in England too. Good Luck on the Day and a Happy Life to you Both.

I think it will give your guests enough time to unwind a little and relax before the party begins. Not a problem at all. People don't live right next door to your church, the odds are that many guests will only have to drive about 20 minutes to get home from that hall.

Sweetie, I have flown thousands of miles to attend weddings, I would never let a little thing like a drive that is less than an hour prevent me from attending any kind of celebration, let alone a wedding reception.

Everyone will come except, maybe, someone too cheap to spring for the gas.

Don't let anyone rain on your parade, this is your big deal, and you have it exactly as you wish.

I think your guests will understand completely, it's your wedding and your day and 40 min is very little travel compared to some. If your wedding is in the summer - have you considered having an outdoor reception at a family members home in your small town if you are concerned about guests being upset this is a great idea that makes people feel very comfortable and relaxed.

I dont think your friends and family will be bothered. It isnt even that long of a ride. It has been my experience that many people do not even go to the church. So, dont sweat it. If people are afraid to drive afterwards, find a local hotel and block off some rooms and put reservation cards in your invitations, if they want to stay they can call and book a room. Congratulations!!

i wouldnt mind but be prepared for some people not to want to drive that far. i came from a small town too and everyone acts like it is a big deal to go anywhere!
maybe you can have it set up for people to carpool or if you have the means rent a few big vans to take people.

40 min is not that bad but you might want to try to hire a limo service for elderly family if they will be driving late at night for there safety I and talking about a van service it will also help avoid drinking and driving. Just remember it is your day to be happy best wishes

Don't count on alot of people showing up for the reception. Your close friends and family will make the drive but that is about it.

Good luck!

I think that if 40 mintues is too much for them to drive to wish you a happy life..they don't need to be at your wedding...The farthest I have driven for a wedding is 6 hours.

I guess it depends on the guest. I drive 40 minutes to work each way...so its nothing to me! I wouldnt even flinch if someone told me it was that far away.
