For me: I've decided to wear the engagment ring with my bands. First comes the band my husband gave me, then the band my grandmother gave to me when she died, and then the engagment ring (closest to my finger nail)
For him: We picked out a wedding band and he's been wearing it ever since.
You CAN buy a wedding set if that's what suits you, but it's just not important to us.

you keep the engagement ring given to you. It is not important that they match. For the wedding when you exchange the rings, the man gets the wedding band, as does the woman.
During the actual ceremony the woman will wear the engagement ring on the right hand, so the band can go on the left, since the band goes on the inside, as it should be closest to the heart, and the engagement ring will go on top of the band.

Well, first you need to decide if you want a wedding band or not. If you do the best thing to do is buy the engagement ring and band in a set. This way you know they fit together and look good together. Alot of women opt out of doing a band, but me personally I wanted the band too. They have wedding sets in jewelry stores. Now, for the man traditionally what you do is buy him just the band. He gets that when you get married. He doesn't wear a ring before the wedding...but you can pretty much do what ever you want cause it's your wedding ya know?!?

The husband generally gets just a wedding band. The lady usually gets an engagement ring when she is asked to be married and the wedding band is purchased to match the engagement band.

It depends entirely on you. Often, the engagement and the wedding rings are purchased as a set at the time of engagement; other times people buy them separately, but wear them on the same finger (wedding band first, then engagement ring on top of it). I opted for wearing my wedding band on my left hand, and my engagement ring on my right, since they are very dissimilar, and don't go together. If you have cash to burn - sure, you can get a whole new set if you'd like. Men don't usually have "engagement" rings, so yes, they just get a wedding band when they get married.

Guy buys the engagement ring. If they pick out a matching set, then he buys both at same time but sticks the wedding band in safety deposit box or leave at jeweller to pick up later. If wedding rings for the couple match, they buy the set at same time, store at same place. The groom can pay for all, or the bride may want to pay for his ring. Really doesn't matter, does it, because it's all a joint affair from this point onward!! If bride wants just plain bands for two of them, the rings can be any style, match or not match. At wedding, bride puts engagement ring on right hand for ceremony so the wedding band can be placed on her finger "closest to her heart", then before reception, transfers the engagement ring over to be beside the wedding band.

You keep the engagement ring of course, and get a matching - or not - band, depends upon what you want. The woman buys the man a wedding band, matching to hers or not.

A lot of times when you are shopping for your engagement ring, you buy the set of both...engagement & wedding band~and sometimes even a matching band for him. Or, you can just buy a plain wedding band to go with your engagement ring when the time comes:) Yep, he only gets the wedding band! Most guys prefer something rather plain, that "doesn't get in the way". Usually if you're is gold then his is gold. Your's white gold, his is white gold.
Good Luck!

We gals are suppose to buy him a wedding band. Guys buy we girls the engagement ring then the wedding band is placed on her finger the day you get married. We should start giving the guys engagement rings also. That wouldn't be a bad idea really.

You get your engagement ring when he asks.
You keep it for your wedding, and get an additional wedding band (or ring). If your fiance is *smart*, he'll pick out part of a matching set when he picks the engagement ring. But even if he's not 'smart', I'm sure you'll like your band next to your engagement ring.
He should get a band that matches your wedding band.
