I'm getting married in Oct. of 2008 and I wanted to have lilies in my bouquet, but not if they're out of season ($$). I wanted specifically white oriental lilies, and I wanted to be prepared when I went to the florist.

Also, if you love lilies and had them in your bouquet or just have a favorite type, let me know - suggestions welcome!

I had white oriental lillies in my bouquet in Sept. of last year. I'm not sure if October would be too late. They looked just beautiful, although they were a bit expensive ($2-$3 per flower??). I had them in my bouquet only (mixed with white spider mums). The girls had orange asiatic lilies in their bouquets mixed with blue thistle. It looked gorgeous against their caribbean blue dresses. I love the look of lilies and they are large enough that you don't need too many.

you can get lillies at anytime year round. Florists have no trouble with it, I think the wholesalers pretty much just switch to whatever growers have them at the best price when they are ordered. My fave lillies are the stargazer ones, but be warned that they have a very powerful scent, they smell great, but I have pretty bad allergies and they give me headaches when I have to be right by them a lot, I would have loved to have the stargazers in my bouquets but I just couldn't take the migranes. Not all lilles smell as strongly as the stargazer ones do, and very few people have my reaction!

Around Easter. You will have to import or...grow them yourself in a hothouse environment. The bulbs are available now.

Please excuse my ignorance, but aren't those flowers for funerals?
