I hope this is not a dumb question, but I honestly have no clue about planning weddings, but my question is. Does your wedding reception have to be the same color scheme as your wedding ceremony? I really hope this isn't stupid of me!

Of course it's not stupid of you! Most people do try to stay in the same scheme, but you don't have to. Your wedding should be whatever colors you love. Good Luck!

Its not stupid of you. The answer to your very good question is no it doesnt have to the same color scheme. Most people try to make it coordinate though. I think that weddings that have too much of teh same color are hard on the eyes. I actually like the idea of having two very similar and coordinating color schemes (one for the wedding and one for the reception). I got married and had the reception at the same place so we kept the burgundy color for both but added in white and silver.

Usually it's the same colors, but that's mostly just for your convenience. It's a lot easier to work with the same colors all the way through than to go back and forth as you're planning. But if you want a themed reception that involves colors that are different from the ones you want at the ceremony, then go for it. It's your day, and if you're willing to plan it that way (or pay a coordinator to do it for you), then that's what you should do. Good luck!

You definitely should keep everything the same color scheme--it keeps it unified. But, to distinguish between the two, you can consider doing different colors in the same color family.

For example, for your ceremony, you could have flower accents in pale pink and white, and have programs of the same color. (If you're Jewish, do yarmulkes in the same color as your bridesmaid dresses.)

For your reception, you could have centerpieces of bright pinks--think fuschias, hot pink, deep rose colors & colors that pop, with other colors thrown in--strangely enough, pink and green work well together, as do pinks and browns, pinks and yellows, or something like that.

You should definitely keep a unified color scheme, but you can do variations of the theme by using different shades of the same colors.

Congrats!

it can be what ever you want but generally the colors are the same because you don't get to use the colors so much at the church except for the brides maid's dresses so your color scheme would really be in effect at the reception. If you want to switch up on the colors, that is up to you, it is your day.

Nope I've been to several that had different colors for the wedding and reception. Just remember to make sure they compliment each other, you don't want your bride's maids to clash with the center piece so bad that everyone loses their appetite.

people can do whatever they want. i like it when its the same colors.

however, if your going to have 2 different color schemes, then id have the bridal party change clothes to match it. and maybe you could even change dresses. a more formal one for the ceremony and a not so formal one for the reception. if not, then ithe colors may clash.

I doesnt have to be, but its alot easier if they are the same color scheme. Remember your flowers and your girls dresses will be worn throughout the day, so you dont want to dress them in blue with pink flowers in the church and then have their blue dresses and pink flowers clash with an orange reception. Its easiest to just carry the colors throughout the church and the reception.

Good luck!

No, it does'nt have to be. However, to make the planning process easier you might consider having the same color scheme. Good Luck.

Generally they are the same to keep cohesiveness the whole day through. It helps in decoration and flower purchases and pulls it all together. But technically now-adays, there aren't many rules that can't be broken. So have fun - and follow your heart! Once you start the planning it'll all fall into place.
