Do you have a Sam's Club nearby??? Seriously, they have all sorts of great appetizers, like "deli spirals", also known as tortilla rollups and little quiches. You can do a fruit and cheese tray. Something like this would make it much easier since you are already doing the flowers, cake, etc. You all want to enjoy the day, so let someone else do some of the work (ie Sam's club or a deli at your local grocery store!)

There are a lot of things you can do with finger foods & appetizers. Sam's Club or Costco are both good choices. Even Wal-Mart has a decent selection of premade Hors D'oeuvres.
You could do an assortment of cheeses and fresh fruit. Some cubed Hawaiian bread & dill dip. You could make crab pinwheels - my favorite of these are with white flour tortillas, cocktail sauce, & cream cheese and imitation crab meat.

Do little sandwiches or wraps, coctail weenies, swedish meatballs, motzerella sticks, quiche, fruit and veggie platters, different kinds of dips, stuff like that. If you go to tastefullysimple.com you can get some great dip mixes like the bacon bacon and cilantro and fiesta party dip mix, all reeeeeallly good. Also, if you are on a budget and have a Sam's Club near you, get stuff in bulk like coctail shrimp, the motz sticks, etc.

if your doing a finger food type reception get a meat and cheese platter together, fruit salad, green salad, potatoe salad, macaroni salad, finger sandwiches, meat balls, ect.
if you like tomatoes you could use my recipie. its really good.
cherry tomaotes
bacon
mayonaise
green onion
scoop out the seeds from the cherry tomaotes. place on serving platter.
cook bacon until crisp and crumble in bowl. chop up the green onion and add to the bacon. add an amount of mayonaise and mix together.
place mixture in a sandwich baggie, cut small hole in one corner and squeeze mixture into the cherry tomaotes and serve.
all measurements depend on how many people are are attending. the ammount of mayonaise is just enough to hold the bacon and green onion together.
also check at a local bookstore for discount cookbooks. i know barns and noble have them and they usually always have at least one cookbook that is for appitizers. i love to cook, so i have tons and tons of cookbooks.

I can say that I know the best way to do this because my husband & I had a small wedding & reception the next day. We did it very simply. We bought trays of cold cut meats, veggie trays, soda, rolls, & some home made things. My brothers wife made our cake. The total of our wedding...food, clothes, rings, invitaions, & to pay the court to marry us, was only $1,200. I hope this helps all of you out & best of luck to your best friend.

I know what it's like to be rushed. My wedding was thought of, planned, and happened in a little more than a month thanks to nagging from grandma! Anyhow, my suggestion to your dilemma is: just purchase a variety of lunch meats, fruits, and vegetables. With little effort, and a couple of cheap party platters you can make some awesome meat, fruit, and veggie trays. You can also buy the fruit dip and veggie dip unless you want to make it.

This is what I had at my wedding:
Swedich meatballs
Fuit tray
Veggie tray
Meat (sandwhich meat) and cheese tray
Chicken salad and egg salad sandwhiches
Cracker and Cheese ball tray
Pretty simple. You can look up the swedish meatball recipe online and play around with it beore the wedding to get it right!
