Hello,

I have not been to a wedding in ages and am getting married next year. I keep hearing about unity candles. Are those for a particular kind of religion? Or do you do it just because you want to? What exactly do you do? I am Lutheran getting married in a Lutheran church (LCMS not ELCA) so I wasn't sure if this was something I would be expected to do or possibly not supposed to do if it is for another religion only.
Thanks!

I'm planning on using silk orchid heads for my centerpieces. Where is a good place to find realistic looking silk orchids (besides Michaels Crafts and Joann)?

He already has a beautiful watch, doesn't wear any other jewelery...I'm stumped! Any ideas would be great...and when do you give this gift? After the reception is over, and its just the two of you?

I had a close friend I knew for 9 years, When I got married I chose her as one of my bridesmaids, but when she met her boyfriend and then he became her fiance she started to withdraw from all her friends. When she got married she did not have any of her friends come to the reception except for 2 friends, we were invited to the church all of the friends myself included were basically excluded. She said she wanted a small wedding with not too much fanfare. She basically became a recluse and when she had twins I asked if she was having a christening and she said I cant invite anyone but family it is too expensive sorry. She used to be a very social person and then she drastically changed, I dont think this is normal behavior do you? It is basically like she shut out all her friends just to be married.

Yes I am just talking about getting a response back like if you send one to disney Mickey and minnie will send you a response or send one to the pope. i know they will not come but just to have the keepsake would be nice. And for those who answer with sarcasm why waste my time by posting an unhelpful answer and just making your self look stupid. Don't read something if you really have nothing relivant to say.

I have been with my boyfriend for 3 yrs. We recently got engaged. He is 30 and i am 23. Ever since we have been dating , our finances have been a strugge. I feel like in 6 months i will finally be out of debt. But he is 30, has no savings or even a bank account. I have been engaged for 5 months and have not even set a date yet. I am worried that if we dont get out of debt that I will not go through with this marriage. I dont want to sound shallow but money is a big deal for me. I dont want to be poor and I feel like if i were dating any other 30 yr old he would be more financially stable. What should i do>?

I have a bridesmaids who is getting on my nerves. She is a really good friend from high school- so that's about 13 years ago for us. She is being such a pain in my ***. I know about my shower because of her. She had the nerve to tell my mother that she shouldn't be involved in my shower because that's not how it's "traditionally" done. Mean while she is rushing to get married before me on 7/7/07 then going to have a formal church wedding and reception on 12/??/08. So she is blowing all this money to fly to Las Vegas to get married but then trying to figure out ways of not feeding my guest for my shower because she doesn't have the money?? My mom was soo upset she told me and I had to call her and tell her we have to have a meal. Having a meal is a big tradition for us at a shower. My friend was actually trying to plan my shower at a time so she could get out of feeding people a lunch!!!
So now she calls me up today and tells me she is going to spend the $1,500 married in LV!?

I am getting married in a little over 4 months and we are getting ready to prepare our invitations. We are unsure of how much time we need to give our guests to RSVP. I have been told that we should have all the RSVPs like a week before the wedding but to me that doesn't sound like nearly enough time to get the food ordered and prepared especially since we are doing all that ourselves. Please help.

We originally wanted to have 3 groomsmen/bridesmaid on each side. We ended up with 4 and 4. 4 groomsmen - my fiance's cousin, friend and 2 step-brothers. And 4 bridesmaids. 3 of my friends, and my fiance's best friend. Ther other people we'd want to involve are my brother, my two best male friends, and one of my female friends, and my fiance's half brother and half sister. His half-brother's kids will be in the wedding, so we're thinking politically it will be OK and giving his half sister a reading. I was thinking of just adding my brother/and my female friend to the bridal party, because it's more convenient than trying to think of something else they can do, and the wedding party is primarily my fiance's people. And I still have two male friends that I would like to be involved, we're really close. Any ideas? We can put in 2 more readings, but it's only supposed to be a 1/2 hour ceremony.

Me and my h2b want to get married in a church which is out of our parish. We have spoken to the church and to get a marridge license we have to prove we have lived in that parish for 15 days in the same year as the wedding. I know that we could just take a holiday over there but we don't have enough to last for the 15 days. Has anyone else had this problem??? What did you do about it???

thanks

I'm trying to find ways to save money on my April 2008 wedding. My current budget is $8,000 but I think I can cut some more corners. Myy fiance and I will probably have 150 guests or so.

Anyway, a lot of wedding budget resources recommend having a guest manage the music rather than hiring a dj for the reception. Has anyone tried this? Let me know if it worked.

I have promised to help locate decoration, favors, and such that fit with this theme. I need help! Where can I find things like this?????
