My best friend is getting married next year and is planning on a punk-inspired ceremony and reception.
She has decided that the colors she wants to focus on are black and white.
I have promised to help locate decoration, favors, and such that fit with this theme. I need help! Where can I find things like this?????

She may end up regretting it, but if it's what she really wants, here are some ideas:

Maybe you can talk her into having elements of punk in her wedding, but still go for a somewhat normal wedding. Yes, the wedding day is all about the bride and groom, but going overboard can cause a lot of stress with family members and make it uncomfortable for guests. Weddings should express a couple's personality, but you don't want to alienate everyone you love.

Some ideas:

The bridal party and the couple can be introduced to a punk song, and they can wear mohawk wigs

Mix punk music into the regular music mix

On the invitations, have old english lettering, and have the colors mostly red/black or purple/black, or put safety pins on it, and letter it with random fonts.

Even punk rock girl Avril had a normal wedding.

Tell her to throw green in. Have the groomsmen wear kilts, play punk music (DK Murphys and Flogging Molly have some slower songs for the ceremony. Get a bunch of those jelly bracelets and combat boots for the bridesmaids to wear, and make everyone wear mowhawks. Get some Pabst Blue Ribbon for the reception, and day old pizza.

Also, have an ambulance nearby, cuz dear old Grannie is going to have a heart attack.

Reading some of the comments against this idea... I have to laugh.. I was looking at my friend's wedding pics a while ago, and she was married in the 60's. She's wearing a mini and looks like Goldie Hawn in Laugh-In, and her hubby has Buddy Holly style hornrims!

If she wants a funky punky wedding, why not? Everything goes out of style eventually... no matter what we wear now we'll look hilarious to our children and grandchildren!

Black and white is a great theme... if she doesn't want a leather & lace type outfit, check out what the widowed Scarlett wore at the ball in Gone With the Wind.. that would be a fabulous look :)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing a themed wedding. It is becoming more and more popular.

You need to talk to your friend to find out more of what she is really looking for. I don't know about you but when I think PUNK I think spiked hair and Loud make-up.

Is she wanting more of a Goth punk
an old-school punk
a skater punk.

There are many different forms of punk these days so have her get a little more specific for you.

Idea for the guys would be cuffed black pants and tight fitting printed tux shirts. Not real tuxes. Or a maroon velvet jacket

If you mean punk & not goth not everything punk is black that is more gothic. How bout a that dress with a corest top that is kinda punk inspired, or a white dress that is more modern feel with a color in it like gwen steffani dress (http://www.flickr.com/photos/bombass/278475601/ )
(http://img113.exs.cx/img113/7546/pinkdress.jpg). So you can have color in a punk wedding. But you if want black & white you can always go for a dress like pink's its has black in it & it's pretty.

She can give out cd's of her & her husbands fav songs,as favors. You can have a candy bar with black licorice, black & white jelly beans.Black tableclothes with white roses as centerpieces.A black & white tier cake with day of the dead bride & groom.(http://www.tupuebloimports.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=1&Page=5) as the cake topper. Skull & Crossbone cufflinks for the groom.

Haha, that sounds absolutely fantastic and creative.

(1) Napkin holders - use those leather spiked wristlets that you can purchase at Spencer's or Hot Topic.

(2) Room decorations - I would reccomend punk band posters, I also reccomend this site, which I have purchased from before and admire:
http://www.angryyoungandpoor.com/store/pc/viewCategories.asp?idCategory=375

(3) Go to stores like:
- Hot Topic http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/index.jsp
- Spencer's http://www.spencersonline.com/index.cfm
- The Alley Chicago http://www.thealley.com/servlet/StoreFront
They have skull and crossbones, punk, gothic and many other types of decorations, and you can shop online at all of these (you don't have to go to Chicago to shop at The Alley if you live far away)

You can purchase decorative items from here; I'd decorate the room with posters, pass out pins and buttons with bands on them that people can pin to their clothing, use brash colors, lots of leather and fishnet but not to the point where it looks like an S and M scene.

Wow, very different.... you have to be careful with theme like that too... like how far you wanted it to go.
I would look up gwen styohenny (from No doubt, because I am sure I slaughter her last name). And see what she did- I would try to keep it classy with a twist of punk rock.

Black & white roses would make a great centerpiece!
You can spray paint white ones (fake ones) or dye them with food coloring (real ones.) You can also order them online.

That's all I can think of for now, but good luck!

This is the weirdest thing I have ever heard of. Talk your friend out of it, and right quick too.
