My fiance's mother is driving me INSANE!!! She is basically refusing to pay for anything wedding related. Recently she got mad because Jason (fiance) and I wanted to go to a different photographer than she did. Well Jason talked to her and said she agreed to pay half the pictures and we could book the photographer we wanted. So my mom and I did that and now when we told her what her half of the deposit and pictures would be, she said she never agreed to pay for half the pictures and feels like she's being left out of everything since we TOLD her where we were getting our pictures done. Well we TOLD my mom too. It's OUR wedding and we should be able to pick out our own stuff! My mom understands that but his doesn't. I think my parents are going to have to pay the whole thing themselves and I'm in college and they say if they do have to pay for it all I might have to take a year off and go back later! Jason and I don't have the money to pay for it ourselves either. What should I do?

What colors, like for instance for my bridesmaids dresses, do you think would go good with my wedding gown? Besides pink and white, if any, let me know.

I am 22 years old and currently planning my wedding/reception. I do like to drink as do my friends. Not excessively, however, I do want alcohol at my reception. My mother whom is paying for the majority oft he wedding does not want alcohol at it at all. We disagree completely with this. I am afraid that my friends will leave the reception if they aren't having fun. We will be serving only finger foods also which makes me cautious that they will leave for a meal somewhere else.
At the location of the reception is at a country club in which has a full bar available. My mother said that the guests would have to purchase their own alcoholic beverages themselves at the bar.
Do you think this will put a bad taste in my guests mouth? Do you think this will be okay?
What is your opinion on this?

Mine is a bread board, used every day (several times) for more years than I care to remember. I've long ago lost touch with the giver, I wonder if she thinks about me ever!

Started the job last Monday. Got the invite on Wednesday. Its a dinner this coming Wednesday. I kind of feel like its a test on whether or not I feel comfortable with my female co-workers. So far, I've turned down every lunch and breakfast invite. But thats because I just don't have the $$$. And now, a fancy resturant? Do I just spare the $ and make a good impression with them? Or do I not go and face some kind of resentment or something?

I tried on wedding dresses the other day, and everything was off the shoulders-this must be the most popular style this year. Do any of you future brides know a site that will show me something that covers my shoulders for a modest look?

I dont want to have to hired a caterer, because i have to food thing under control, but... what can i do about drinks?
the beer and sodas are easy to take care of, but.. I want good mixed drinks but wont have time, or a person to make drinks for everyone.
Is there a way i can hire a caterer or whoever to do the open bar thing, OR.. are there some easy easy easy drinks to make that still taste good?

My fiancee and I would like to elope this May and have only $1500 to work with. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble planning an out of town wedding on our budget. Can you please help me figure out where we should go and more specifically who has a wedding package we can afford?

Expenses to consider:
1. Gas for car (or airfare). We are based in Buffalo, NY and are willing to drive anywhere within a 10 hr.'s drive.
2. Hotel
3. Wedding services - should include photography since we won't be having any guests
4. Fiancee's ring - $120 (overstock.com - the ring has already been chosen).
5. Spending money
6. Marriage license

Please take into account all of the above factors when answering. An answer like "Niagara Falls," doesn't help me.

Have you ever been a bridesmaid where the bride is really controlling when it comes to what you're gonna wear to the wedding, how you're to do your nails, hair, etc.? Or are you currently in that situation? I'm currently a bridesmaid and the bride is behaving like an extremely difficult and control freak. It's as if she's bridezilla controlling her little marionette dolls (dolls with strings attached that a puppeteer controls). Is it too much for me to ask to be able to do my own nails, hair and shoes? I think not!

I sent a friend of hers who is also a mutual friend of mine an invitation to my wedding. She complained that I did not send her an invitation. I explained that you do not send your OWN MOTHER an invitation. She argued that most mothers are in the same city with their daughters and they know what the invitation looks like. My position is that the mothers who are paying for the invitations know what it looks like and she is not paying for my invitations. I told her I did have one saved for her as a keepsake and she would get it when she gets here. She stated that it was not proper.
I have handled the details of my wedding myself. My mother has not assisted me at all. I have had to look for my mothers dress, only to have her complain that she did not like any of them, now she wants me to look for my grandmothers dress on top of all the other things I have to do. My grandmother was not invited to the wedding because I am afraid of the drama she will cause. She does it every family event.

Ok, so I absolutely love my wedding gown, I tried it on and it looks very pretty on me, though the picture does it no justice it looks soo much better in person. But now I cant decide which color bridesmaid dress I like best. Help me decide!

this is my wedding gown:

this one is my favorite I think, but does pink and papaya look good together do you think?

or do you like this one, cause I think pink and wine look good together.

My partner and I will marry once we graduate. All our money to date was spent on school and so we don't have a lot for rings, let alone a wedding.

I've always wanted a nice wedding but it's just not possible. I told him it's ok, I don't need a fancy wedding - just a lifetime with him. However, when I hear about my friends wedding plans or go to a wedding, I get so sad and heartbroken because I wish I would have some way to share my special day with my friends.

It hurts him to see me sad, and I know he worries I will not be happy with him due to money shortages, so I dare not tell him about this because I don't care about money. Too bad a simple reception is even out of our budget. Am I being a cry-baby? Should I be happy we went to the courthouse to get the certificate and that we have each other forever? I feel conflicted - any thoughts?
