Do you take the gloves off for the actual ceremony, or do you put the ring over over top of the glove?

Either is alright.
However, depending on the thickness of your gloves.
Do you know for certain that the ring will go over the glove.
Or will it be a struggle.
If you plan on removing the glove during the ceremony, let the clergy, priest, minister etc. know that you will be doing that. Figure out how much time you will need before hand, before the ring is placed on your finger, so that you are not removing the glove just as the ring is suppose to be put on.
Some people are going to have mixed feelings about the ring being put over the glove.
So, you have to really do what you want and feel is good for you.
Just keep in mind, everyone has a certain way of doing things, and that does not change. You do what you feel you are comfortable doing, and therefore, you will feel comfortable and not have to look back and remember and resent anyone for influences you in either way.
Have a nice wedding day, be true to yourself.

Definitely. Never wear rings on top of gloves; the gloves go over jewelry. I believe I heard that from Miss Manners...

I've also heard of brides cutting the seams on their ring finger only so that when the ring is slipped on, it can be slipped on the actual finger, rather than the glove. I'm not sure how that would work while carrying your flowers, I would think that the unseamed finger would "flap", but I've heard many brides take that approach. Personally, I would prefer taking my gloves off when I hand my flowers to my Maid of Honor.

Have you thought of wearing the fingerless type gloves that have a small loop that just slips over your middle finger? I think those look nice and you can still put the ring on while wearing them.

Gloves? Oh GAG! If you're going to insist on wearing gloves, then take them off before the ceremony because.....

A. Pictures will look absolutely horrible if you have gloves on with a ring over them. And....

B. What size ring are you going to get? One that fits your fingers with gloves on? Or without? If you get a ring size that fits your fingers with gloves on, it will fit too loosely when you're not wearing them!

So if you're going to insist on wearing golves........wear them during during pictures, then take them off before the ceremony. After you're married I'm sure you'd rather have pictures of your nice pretty manicured fingers with a big pretty wedding ring than g-g-g-g-g-gloves!!!!

When it comes to the part of the ceremony when you and your husband exchange rings, you remove your gloves and turn them over to your maid of honor. That is how it is done.
