Weddings - November 2006

I am looking for a place to have a nice traditional wedding but I can't seem to find one that is reasonable enough for my budget. I don't want any of the cheap places where there is no parking and the linens are all ragged and used, I just want elegance and simplicity! Can someone please help me?

I am going to a friends wedding and Im not sure how much $ to give. Not sure what you should take into consideration, but here are the details:

1. its a friday night wedding (gotta leave work early)
2. its at a country club
3. im not really close with this person anymore. We e-mail every few months, but that is the extent of our friendship.

Can someone please tell how much to give them?

We are planning on getting married in may and the pastor we picked is having us take a compatibilty test and i was just wondering why...and another thing..if we have our reception in one town should we get married in that same town or would it be bad if we got marriend a half hour away..which would be better?

My dress is all over ivory lace and strapless. The bridesmaid dresses I like are red strapless empire waist dresses in a jersey/cotton material. My maid of honor loves it, but will it clash too much with my dress? Does it even matter if it does? I am going to be wearing a red sash to tie in the look to the dresses. What do you think?

My fiance and I are having our engagement pics taken this week and putting an announcement in the paper. We are having a problem though. My parents are still together, however, his mother is deceased and his father has remarried. We do not want to exclude the step-mother, but don't want it worded to where it comes across as her being his mother. Need suggestions on wording for him. I have looked on websites but they all have samples for deceased parents but not w/the other parent remarried too. Please help! Thanks in advance!!

I just found out that my soon to be sister in law is going to be getting married. Exciting..... But now she is talking about getting married the same month me and my fiance (her brother) are going to be married. I just think this is rude of her....am I wrong? They have family from out of state and if she gets married before us, then I dont think most family members will make it down for two weddings. Also, it just is a bummer because its supposed to me MY day,....my month...... it may sound selfish, but you only get married once! I mean, we got engaged first and planned the time of the wedding already...AND I'm a total girly girl who has thought of her wedding day since I was little..... Am I out of line??...

It has been three years. I've accepted and dealt w/ so much drama. If the love is there, why does a man not give a ring? I have asked him already, if that's what you are going to say and he keeps saying he wants to make sure "we are alright and doing it for the right reasons." ?WTF? I've made sacrifices beyond belief. we went and looked at engagement rings over a month ago and i picked one out and everything but still no ring. i picked out a really cheap one too. he still talks about mariage but he keeps saying he cant afford the ring when i know for a fact he can. all he has to do is apply for the credit at the jewelry place and the payment for the ring i want would only be 20 dollars a month. i know for sure he wants to marry me so why the hell isnt he getting me the stupid ring?

My girlfriend and i had been talking about marriage for the last 6 monthes or so (her idea). I know she really loves me and i really love her but two weeks ago i asked her to marry me very romantic and she was so happy instantly calling and texting everyone she knew. Since then I have noticed her acting a little different maybe a little scared i wasn't sure so asked her what's bothering her and she says she's not sure if she is ready which to me is weird because in the last 2 weeks she found the place she wants to get married, registered at the bridal shop, picked out her brides maids dresses, and has been going through magazines for a tux for me. i talk to her about this and she says she is in love with me and hasn't fallen out of love with me but now doesn't know if we should be together at all she said she is worried that there might be someone else out there for her. We ended out engagement about 11 months ago....were engaged for 2 years, and together for 5.........I have a guy, he has a new girl, but he always calls me and tells me how much he misses me and loves me, and will never love anyone else like he does me!
