Basically my dad is going to marry the woman he had an affair with years ago that split my parents up. My dad has hardly ever invited her along whenever I'm around, and all I know of her is the woman who he had the affair with. She doesn't make an effort and I really don't like her. I don't understand why they are getting married now when they've been on and off for years. What do I do?

My girlfriend and I have been together for about a year and a half and we have been living together ever sense. We have one child together who is almost 6 month old. I have two children from another relationship who I have visitations with on the weekends. My girlfriend use to love and adore my kids at first but lately within the last few months she has shown and said that she dislikes them but not hate them. The two kids that I have from another relationship are a 2 yr old and a 6 yr old. My 6 year old just got a cell phone from their mother and is on the phone every 10 mins while she is over my house. My girlfriend and I think it is disrespectful and an invasion of privacy. My girlfriend always says that she wishes it was just the three of us...Meaning her, I and our daughter that we have together. She says that she wishes that they were not in the picture. I am a Prince to my girlfriend & I always make her feel special so it is not that she is insecure with our relationship. Help!

I'm only curious. If two people got married in India (via register marriage or otherwise) is there a way to find out when, where and the date they got married?

Is there an online repository for such things?

What are the expectatives about it?
What do you give to the relationship to stay balanced?
Or do you think only on yourself?

My fiance and I are planning and paying for our wedding ourselves. Because we are on a tight budget, we are planning to go out to dinner after our wedding and small "cake and punch" reception. We want everyone to know that they are welcome to join us - but on seperate tabs. How can we go about making it known to everyone that we'd love the company, but dinner is "Dutch Treat?" It seems most people don't know what "going Dutch" means anymore, and we want to be clear, but not tacky or rude. I can't find anything about it on any of the "Etiquette" websites.

I'm getting married on a Saturday in January in San Francisco, and my two brothers (one older, one younger) who live on the East Coast are saying they're "too busy at work" to fly out -- even just for the day. Both have started new jobs in the last few months, but these are white collar salaried jobs that don't require you to work on weekends, so I'm not buying the work excuse. I've always had good relations with them. I'm wondering if they don't want to see my mom, who can be a bit of a nag. Or if they are just afraid of weddings (one had a bad divorce, the other likes to play the tough single guy and say he'll never get married). Of if there's something else going on. I keep asking what the issue is, and they keep sticking to their story about having too much work to do.

It hurts not to have a brother come to a wedding. Has anyone been through anything similar? Got any advice for me? I'm at the end of my wits.

My fiance does not have a close male friend or sibling to ask as a best man. At first I was relieved to not have to pick between my friends (I've been a bridesmaid in 4 weddings) but now I'm regretting having NO wedding party. I don't want him to feel bad- he moves around so much, it's hard to make lasting guy relationships. He has friends though-- how close do they have to be to ask to do best man? Any ideas for creative ways around this? I've considered just asking my best friend to attend but will that draw attention to the fact that he has no one? :(

I mean, I understand about the definitions. But for example my boyfriend and I have have been living together and have now discussed marriage. He is planning on buying me a ring to symbolize and engagement, and then we will set a date. But since I dont know much about the subject I just wanted to get some insight. What type of ring is given for an engament and then what for the wedding?
