First of all, congrats on getting married! I wish you all of the happiness in the world.

I am getting married in October of 2007 and have chosen not to let the groom see the dress at all. This is not because of any superstition, but I think the surprise reaction of how beautiful I look in my dress will be ruined if he already knows what to expect. I want this to be a special moment for me and for him. Seeing the look on his face will be priceless.

It's bad luck for the guy to see the dress and the bride in the dress before the wedding. Just supersition. You'll see where the money went on the day of the wedding when she walks down the aisle to you.

Some say it is...

At my wedding, this superstition turned out to be the worst thing that I could have let ruin it for me. I took the tradition you describe for granted and it was foolish of me. We had a casual wedding and I stayed shut away while my husband-to-be was out there saying hi to everyone, and then they all assembled and got quiet and I had to make this stoopid Big Entrance ... I hadn't even gotten to say hi to everyone, I had to basically plunge from dressing room straight to stage. It sucked, and I wish I'd thought more about it beforehand.

Anyway, if you do think about it and you want to plan this Entrance thing on purpose, it's kind of a romantic superstition just because the bride will probably look more stunning and feminine than at any other time in her life, and part of the fun atmosphere of a wedding comes from the symbolic anticipation of sex. So supposedly, if the groom sees the bride in her dress for the first time, he'd appreciate her beauty more, and desire her more than ever. Which is a sweet idea, and could be said to be good luck. I wouldn't say it's bad luck, though, if he does see it beforehand.

sometimes i wonder if it is bad luck but then i think about all the couples that take their wedding pictures before the ceremony. They seem to be doing good. So its probably ok for him to see the dress in the bag. The superstition says is bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the ceremony. If he saw the dress in the bag then don't worry about it.

Some people think so, but I think it's just a myth. My husband saw me before the wedding, because we had a family blessing done at my mom's home prior to the wedding.

I feel ths is a more personal question..it's taboo..
U probably need to ask the elders
in ur family to get a much better answer..
at least somebody whom u feel u can trust..ask face to face
to get a better ans, my dear :>

i, practically am a traditional n superstitious person..
it's better to believe in thse thngs than regret later...

For instance ==>
it's like asking urself : ''do u believe in ghosts? '', where there is practically
no scientific explanation for these paranormal things,
but there has been ghosts sightingsby a few pple..

Congrats in ur wedding..!

not at all - it is a superstition.
I have known of the couple shopping together for all the outfits & have also heard of the "groom" designing the the brides gown.
so it is entirely up to you
