Hi, I am helping out with a last minute bridal shower in a few days. We didn't want to do games but need ideas on how to get people to talk to eachother???? Any ideas? It will be in a home, about 10-15 people. Something pretty easy and independent-nothing we have to announce how to do or anything...

the bride and groom are on disability and my niece has saved money from working. her mom handles her money and insists she has to buy the alcohol to thank the guest. she and her future husband are both paying for this out of their own money and are paying for a catered reception and the whole wedding as a matter of fact. how far is enough for saying thanks to the guest?

I thought that I had heard, according to etiquette, that only 1 gift is appropriate.

Bride speaking: Neither of us are religious & don't want a big production of a wedding. We had decided on getting married, alone, on the Virgin Islands. We were happily researching & planning when husband-to-be's, 2 sisters starting laying on the guilt about not being able to attend and they want us to change plans & get married here instead. Husband-to-be is extremely torn, wants to make family happy, has an extremely hard time telling anyone "no". I don't want to change plans & think his sisters are being selfish & rude, and should be happy for him. They know there would also be a reception planned in his hometown, yet insist they must be at the ceremony, even though they know we want to have it private and uncomplicated. Also, both sisters have unruly children that no one can control. The kids will be fighting for attention the entire time if they are present. How does the bride-to-be handle this? Serious and well thought-out answers only please. Thanks.

My best friend got married on short notice this last New Years. I was the Maid of Honor. Her and I talked and decided that with only a few weeks till the wedding there wouldn't be much time for a bridal shower and didn't do one. I didn't do one after, because as far as I knew, you don't throw it after the wedding. Now, 8 months later, the moms have decided to throw a bridal shower. But now as the Maid of Honor I feel really guilty that they feel like they have to throw one becuase I didnt. They have already planned time date and place for the shower. I was going to call the moms and ask to help out but feel so bad. Any advise? Should I feel guilty since the bride and I had talked about this? Any advice on how to handle this situation? I just don't know the ettiqute on weddings and showers at all. This was my first time being MOH or even going to a wedding.

We both work at the same place, and they have a rule no married couples in the same division, which we are but not the same department. one of use would have to quit or go from full time to part time and lose our benifeits. We are going to Las Vegas in Sept. but she doesn't want to get married without family present. That's OK by me. it's just this work thing.

almost 2 years ago i was invited by my girlfriend to attend her sisters wedding. the rehersal was nice, the wedding was beautiful. then came the reception. after the couple got hitched, i asked the one brother of the bride n sister if there was a gas station around. when he gave me the directions i said 'im going to get gas, ill be right back'. and when i returned, everybody was gone. i frantically drove up and down the road and to the town the party was at. i had no luck of finding the place and decided to go back to my dorm the next morning i went to my girlfriends house and let myself in. she walked in and i explained everything to her and she forgave me then and still held it inside of her until a few months ago. i called the parents house since my stuff i had on the other day was there, telling them who i was, where i was at and what i was planning on doing. when i took my girl to work i drove to her parents house and had a 'nice' talk with the dad. now, should dad get over it
