Marriage & Divorce - 9 July 2006

My girlfriend got a divorce for me just recently. I had discovered just a couple of pictures of her and her ex-husband and they seemed very happy with eachother. The pictures couldnt have been taken more than 4 years ago. I guess I feel guilty cause I feel I could have caused a happily married couples divorce. Is there any particular questions I should ask my girlfriend for my reassurance that she would really rather be with me. I know this seems silly since she has already gone through the divorce, but I feel bad seeing them so happy together previously in pictures, letters, and some other small things.

I have been depressed almost everyday for the last three years. My wife of seven years is not here for me emotionally, physically or sexually, not like it should be. We split up for a year and a half and reconciled a year in a half ago. She was 33 started "dating" a guy she worked with after just one week. He was only 27. He got what he wanted and broke it off after just a few weeks. Two months later she moved in with another guy. He left her for somebody else after getting his bills payed for a year. The credit was ruined, car repossed and all. Shortly there after she decided it was time to reconcile and moved to Florida with me.The first year she went back home several times and "seen" the first guy and even "seen" him once down here. I found out called him and told him that if it didn't end that I will come see him :- ) I love her and our five year old son very much, but I am now 44 and need a wife that is true and will be here for me. Lady T says she will be... lol..

Two people own a home together, are raising children together, file taxes together, etc. and live in an area that common law is recognized...so why are they constantly questioned about why they don't want to get married? Is marriage the ultimate showing of commitment? Both have been married before to very cruel spouses and they are happy in their current relationship...why fix what isn't broken. My question is this...which is better to YOU, marriage or common law? My parents were common law and I have never viewed it as a lack of commitment, but am curoius what others think.

ok its a long question and complicated. Ive been married for two years now, my husband and i dated a long time before we were maarried, and have been friends since highschool. We have two children, 1 is ours the other is his from his first marriage. I think our marriage is falling apart. He says mean things especiaally when we fight and doesnt help much. he had back surgery in jan , and i know theres not much he can do but sometimes i feel like he just wants to be lazy. he barely helps with our kids, and gets mad when i ask him for help. I try so hard to do everything right and keep up with stuff but its hard. His family for the most part hates me, they think im a wh0re. He catches attitude over the smallest things and has this way of making me feel stupid. My mother wants me to take the baby and leave, my best friend thinks so too. but i still remember why we are married in the first place, and i do love him, and i hate quitting. i justdont know what to doshould i give up?

My wife is in the hospital from a bad car accident, she will be fine but she has to stay in the hospital for a couple weeks. We have a very attractive female neighbor and she told me up front she wants to sleep with me. Should I do it? I can always hire a babysitter for our 6 month old daughter. my wife went out for a drink with the ladies at 6pm last night and walked back in the house at 1o am this morning as if nothing was wrong ,I had a good few things to say to her and said that a phone call would of been nice our anything just to let me now that she was ok , she just turned round and said that i was over reacting and its not like she spent the night with another man ,she just fell asleep on his friends sofa , weve a 2 yr old son and she is 5 months preganant with twins. id just like to now how many other would react if that was ther husband or wife .

My wife has become abusive with me and Im leaving her. We have 4 girls together (ages 7-12) and live in a nice home in a gated community where my girls are comfortable, so Im leaving my girls with my wife. Shes threatened to move with my girls out of state and claim I've abandoned my family. What can I do to protect myself and make sure my girls stay here.

have a family friend that has just recently found out that the child that he thought was his is not... he and his wife are now going through a divorce what right does he have to this child as far as custody in texas....(he is not named on the birth certificate as the father but the child has his last name)???
