Friends

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd." I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friend tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.

As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him. He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes. My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.

As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks. They really should get lives." He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!" There was a big smile on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude. I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived. As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before. He said he had gone to private school before now. I would have never hung out with a private school kid before. We talked all the way home, and I carried his books. He turned out to be a pretty cool kid. I asked him if he wanted to play football on Saturday with me and my friends. He said yes. We hung all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him. And my friends thought the same of him.

Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again. I stopped him and said, "Damn boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!" He just laughed and handed me half the books. Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends. When we were seniors, we began to think about college. Kyle decided on Georgetown, and I was going to Duke. I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem. He was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a football scholarship. Kyle was valedictorian of our class. I teased him all the time about being a nerd. He had to prepare a speech for graduation. I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak.

Graduation day, I saw Kyle. He looked great. He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school. He filled out and actually looked good in glasses. He had more dates than me and all the girls loved him! Boy, sometimes I was jealous. Today was one of those days. I could see that he was nervous about his speech. So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!" He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled. "Thanks," he said. As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began.

"Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years. Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach... but mostly your friends. I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them. I am going to tell you a story." I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met. He had planned to kill himself over the weekend. He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home. He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile. "Thankfully, I was saved. My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable."

I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment. I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile. Not until that moment did I realize it's depth. Never underestimate the power of your actions.

I have a friend who FINALLY agreed to check into a hospital - and under the condition that I would watch his house and his dogs for him. I've never really had to be a part of any one's life that's gone through re-hab. (And this is his SECOND attempt - the first time he was 2 1/2 years clean before falling off). Will you give me ideas of things I need to be aware of once he's gotten through treatment to help him. I know he's asked if I would come to some of his counceling....I just don't know what to expect.

Any thoughts would be appreciated (Along with prayers if you're Christian! :-) )

Me and my friends are playing a game.
And the game is "saying a country."
My friend start first saying a country name.
And then my second friend continues.
Then me. So after 12 mins past by we have no more countries
to name anymore. And it was my turn so I said Newfoundland.
And my first friend said there is no country like that. And I said there is a country like that. And then he said If there is a country name Newfoundland I will give you $50 but if there isn't then you give me $50. So I said ok. So we all went home and I researched on Newfoundland. And it said it was and independent country from 1907 to 1934. After that it is now a part of Canada. So my question is should I give $50 to him?

He broke it off but said maybe it could work later. Im the only ex he speaks to and I asked and he said no its not because he wants to keep me around in case. He says he really cares about me but can only offer friendship right now. We broke up bc we both work a lot and go to school full time and that caused arguing.

ok so a week ago this i guy i know just completely stopped talking to me for no reason at all. I thought he was just going through something but he wasnt. so on monday i asked him to help me and he comletely ignored me and told me to go ask the proffessor for help even though he knows how to do it. I dont think I did anything to make him stop talking to me so and i know that hes voluntarly ignoring me. So how do i get him to talk to me again.

Recently on a beach trip, I was wearing a nice bikini. Suddenly during the fun and games, our friends started giving each other wedgies. We girls were laughing and generally enjoying (and also getting a eyeful at times!). Doesnt it hurt for guys?

Suddenly my closest guy friend had the brilliant idea of 'girl wedgies' and slipped behind me & pulled my bottom really hard from behind. <>

The bottom really cut into my privates in the front and back..and it really hurt. Plus all the guys/gals saw quite a lot of my pubes and area. After covering myself up, I tried giving him a wedgie back..but he ran away. Now all the guys are calling me "Jungle Girl" referring to my pubes.

How can I get back at him? It has to be as embarassing for him and he should really feel it too!!! Any ideas? I want to do it in front of all the boys and girls!

Hi, i have a friend who for some reason is intent on causing trouble all the time between everybody in our group of friends. She has recently tried to split my boyfriend and i up by making up malicious rumours that he fancies another of our friends and she fancies him also. This is really not true- she then tried to blame another friend for it by saying it was her who spread these rumours. Unfortunatly for her my partner and mum heard it all when she told me!! she is now trying to make out that i dreamed it all up and im trying to gossip to cause trouble for her- i live with my boyf and just had a baby boy 2 weeks ago so this is upsetting us a great deal. I need advice on how to handle the situation and how i can make everyone see that it is her and not me causing trouble. This is not the first time she has done things like this- she is always like it but it is the first time she has done it to me.

She is also always making little nasty comments to all of us to hurt our feelings

Ever since High School when I lost contact with my middle school friends, I haven't been able to make friends that are "real" friends. By "real" I mean friends that are there for you, call you and invite you to parties or gatherings or just hang out with you. I try to be nice and "cool" with everyone I meet at the community college where I'm currently attending. I'm 28 years old and notice that people are really "cool" with me during class and in school but once they go home they don't call me. I'm the one who has to be calling them and when I do, they seem to be in a rush. I invite them to go out or to hang out at my house but noone seems to be interested. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. It seems like everyone else has a group of friends they can hang out with except me. Is anyone else in the same situation and if so what do you recommend?

If your friend ask you to meet to play pool, then they decided to go to coffee afterwards, but they didn't want you at coffee and they didn't tell you. Is it fair that she gets mad at you for joining them for coffee? She acts all innocent like i didn't say anything because it would hurt your feelings, then she tells people about how she didn't want you there, then get your other friend involved in telling you you how you should just know.

CLOSE friends for years and he's secretly liked me but he never went for it b/c he thought the chances of being w. me were slim only to find out that after all this time, I felt the same way back - I was the first girl he fell in love with (both in our 20's and gave him his first kiss; no sex just kisses) BUT "life challenges" (death) and rumors/assumptions from friends made us drift apart (he pushed me away) and it created tension BUT rather than giving up or seeking revenge, we worked it out and everything is starting to be better than before, the relationship grew (this happened in a 9 month span)

We're in the process of being close friends again...In the beginning when we first met, we "clicked' right away and could be able to talk to each other about anything and everything. We would always see each other in and out of classes, have lunch, and talk to each other almost every night. That was 3 years ago and obviously, THINGS change, PEOPLE change, and we change but it's not that we're growing apart - we're just growing up while adjusting to all this change...
It's different and i get scared that we'll lose our "closeness" but someone told me, "true things are never lost..." CAN WE STILL DO OUR OWN THING AND BE CLOSE? We used to talk all the time and now we don't call each other; not sure if it's a "guy thing" where they stop talking on the phone, we're both busy, or he's changed alot from the his friend's death...i'm sorry i'm just venting - THOUGHTS? I'd really appreciate it! THANKS

i was sposed to meet my friend cos we are trying meeting at the same time and day every week cos life has gotten busier...and i get up earlier for it and he forgot me! he said he sincerely apologises and even said sorry sweetheart..awww...but still. he forgot me! how rude is that. i am considering being cold and distant around him. i mean i know hes not perfect but gods...shall i let this go as human error or be oversensitive and take it as a personal insult?

About a year ago i lost a very close friend of mine in a car accident and ever since i have been an emotional wreck. This was the first person that was ever close to me that died and it is harder than i ever imagined. Anything i do reminds me of him and it's horrible. I never got to say an actual goodbye except at the viewing since the funeral wans't here. But it just seems like a part of me is missing. My parents aren't very helpful either because they dont understand what im going through and they dont really want to listen to me talk about how i feel.
But i was just wondering if you went through something like this or some ways i could deal with it. thanks.

So i'm 17. and my ex boyfriends 17th birthday is soon and we still are really close. hes been there for me through a lot and vice versa. we started dating when i was in 8th grade and he was in 7th and dated off and on up until my sophmore year of high school and ever since then we have just been reele close. i feel so far apart from my friends now. we use 2 b so close. now we tell secrets in front of each other, gossip behind each others backs, and most of all.... i feel as if they r melting into different people. they care so much about wat people think of them, and how they look. if i get loud, they'll go... What should you do if you live in a town, where most of the people at your college hate you. I am not pretending i normaly eat alone nd when tried going to a party one time the host yelled

So I'm going to my friend's school homecoming dance this Saturday. In her group she will be the only person I know. There will be a good number of people will be in her group and when i'm with a large amount of people I tend to become painfully shy. I talk rarely and really act as if I am a mute. People I don't even know ask "Do you talk?" It's really annoying and embarassing. I just want to have a good night and make new friends! okay. so im best friends with this girl since last year. we became like sisters ova the summer and everyone thought she was using me. She would always be like "(whoever) thinks im using you! Theyre so gay." and like she convinced me she wasnt. and idk, i pretty much narrowed my friends down to just her over the summer (bad idea, i know.) and then this year, high school, she started out the same but then she started hangout out w/ ppl without me. she told me i need 2get 2 know them so we could all hangout. so we all hungout a few times and i kinda knew them.

then the otha day she was like lets all go to the fair, including me, so i was like yeah shure itll be fun. then she calls me and says OH we got a babysitting job! so well babysit. then like 2 hrs later she calls back and says oh im going to the fair, you babysit. i was like thinking WOW shes totally ditching me. and then i got mad and we were fighting and she calls back and says sorry. oh and can i have $20?
