Ever since High School when I lost contact with my middle school friends, I haven't been able to make friends that are "real" friends. By "real" I mean friends that are there for you, call you and invite you to parties or gatherings or just hang out with you. I try to be nice and "cool" with everyone I meet at the community college where I'm currently attending. I'm 28 years old and notice that people are really "cool" with me during class and in school but once they go home they don't call me. I'm the one who has to be calling them and when I do, they seem to be in a rush. I invite them to go out or to hang out at my house but noone seems to be interested. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. It seems like everyone else has a group of friends they can hang out with except me. Is anyone else in the same situation and if so what do you recommend?

Can you find some older students to hang out with? Maybe that's the problem. Or maybe the older students are really busy with juggling college, and jobs and all that other stuff.

You could try joining some clubs, and see if you can find people who are more socially-minded that way.

It's really hard to create friends as an adult. As a kid, you know, people would stay overnight, and goof around all weekend. But as an adult, not so many people have the time for that. But there are people out there who want to connect. Keep looking!

Try finding some type of club you can join and this way you'll have the same interests. The people you meet in the classroom might think you're too old for them and that's why they don't hang out? I also hear Match.com is a good place to meet people too. Wish you luck there. Have some fun!

I seem to be in the same situation of..... you friends. Well, people like me are the ones who pick out the kind of friend I would probably enjoy being with. Sometimes, you just have to ask yourself, how do you actually treat them? Because sometimes, even though they treat me too nicely, I don't pay back easily... unless maybe they really do me a very big favor. =)

you seem to be too concerned about having friends than focusing on your own life i recommend that you don't try to force your friendship on others if they really want to be your friend they will initiate the relationship i think that you should focus on your family or invest in some hobbies and not worry about finding friends
