It is gossip if it's about someone else......

And if it wasn't supposed to be "leaked" then it's even worse!

If this is about a friend, just because it's true doesn't mean you shouldn't stand up for them!

Defend someone by simply being their friend. Stick up for them. Even if the rumor is true, try to act like it doesn't matter and your friendship is still the same. This will make your friend feel more comfortable and know you still like her and trust her. So was if the rumor is true?? You still know how great of a person she is. So defend her by supporting her in her time of need (because she might feel down if people make fun of her after the rumor). Most importantly, remember a true friend walks in when the rest of the world walks out. And that's exactly what you want to be! A real true friend that sticks up for her and helps her now. If people mention the rumor, maybe get around it by simply diverting their attention. Say: "Oh but you know how good of a friend she is", etc. I really wish you good luck!

Gossip is Theft.

If the person is peddling in information that is not theirs it is wrong.

Defending a thief is never a good thing unless you are a lawyer and you know what people think of lawyers. Keep your integrity and dignity. Deny the gossip an audience.

It is not that you are better than the gossip, Oh No: O My bad, you are better them. Hold your head up.

Don't defend them. Just look sadly at the spreaders and wonder when will they ever grow up..

Because the Truth doesn't matter.. it's the Trust.

And the Trust just seems to break everytime they spread it around, no matter how many, "Oh yeah, I won't tell annyone.." they say. Because, once trust is lost, it's Lost. There are always ways to gain it back, but spreading it will only bounce you backwards!

Gossiping is repeating a story, whether it's true or not.

The best way to defend someone, even if the rumor is true, is to not repeat it. Also, do not confirm the rumor either.

Your best response when someone brings the story to you is, "Really?" Then tell that person something positive about the rumored person.

Gossip: Rumor or talk of a personal, sensational, or intimate nature. A person who habitually indulges in gossip.

So yes it is gossip. Any time you go to another person and talk about someone else, whether it be true or a lie, it's still gossip. You're taking someone else's personal information, and indulging in it by talking about it when it was none of your business in the first place to talk about it. When someone tells you something about themselves, and you go off telling someone else, it is construed as gossip.

Hope this helps. :-)

because of the fact they experience they have some airborne dirt and dirt on somebody and are on top of issues , they carry an ace up their sleeves and places others on the protecting and that they prefer interest . via spreading rumors and gossip , they may well be attempting to sidestep any undue interest or additionally be the project of their rumor they are spreading.

If what people are saying is true then there is no need to "defend" anyone....why don't you try this....If people are talking about someone (true or not)...don't include yourself in the conversation. Eventually someone else will do something crazier and they will stop talking about the first person.

Yes gossip can be about something that is true. All you can do is stand by your friend, don't talk about it when people ask you about the topic, ignore it when you hear it. Don't feed the flames and eventually they die down.
