I was just curious if this is the norm. I looked at other questions and it seems to be, plus I asked my parents and talked to my friends. I've been in college since the end of August and my roommate is really nice. But we barely talk anymore. We were really close the first and second night we moved in together, but now it seems to have gotten so much more quieter. Plus, I feel like she is always eying me and being curious about what I am doing when I am minding my own business at my desk and my side of the room.
I talked to her about it and told her I was shy and I just run out of things to say and she said it was okay and that she had been really busy lately. But whenever I tried to bond with her, she always bails on me. Like, I figured we'd watch Desperate Housewives together when it premiered and she left. So the next day I just told her that Edie didn't die and she got all weird like, "Don't tell me! *Laugh* I haven't watched it yet!"

There's a prog on TV just now, discussin' the use of the N word between cultures. It seems most people see the N word as relating to the slavery era as opposed to an endearing term for people from Nigeria. eg, as in Brits, Japs...

The discussion raises the issues of it's valid use if it was reclaimed by black people and made into a POSITIVE word as opposed to it's alleged derogatory term, though whites and blacks alike are saying maybe the word should be dropped altogether as it's a form of degradation.

I've noticed, black people will call each other My *n* etc, as a friendly term as if empowering the word with positivity and thus removing the potential emotional derogatory and abusive context.... Yet if a white person used the term, even if he was in your circle of friends it's still seems offensive.

This is an ongoing issue, though looking to the future and your childrens future, how do you feel about the use of the *n* word, Should it be taken out of use altogether?

Ok online i am very like by a lot of diffrent people I.E myspace bebo msn yahoo messager ect... but in the real world i have friends for like 4 weeks then they get pissed off and leave me i do not know why i know it is me but jsut do not know what i am 15 and i also this do not happen with friends but with girl friends i jsut start being mean to them bord of them it so wrong why do i do it? someone can you help me make real world friends i ahve like 500 on my yahoo list! Ok so my mom got me a car about 7 years ago for work and said at the time it was a gift!! It was 3,000. Then i was making about $17,000 a year, now Im making about $55,000 a year and shes asking me to pay her back!! This is why i dont talk to her. I have bad feelings about it cause my Dads mom would give you the shirt off her back and not ask for anything and i have my Grams mentality!! My mother on the other hand would sue you if she fell on your property!! I love my mom but hate her attitude towards money!! I always felt like i had to earn her love, my whole life!! We havent been close in about 5 years now and shes using this against me!! I havent responded to her emails. I lived in N.J by myself and she made no advances on seeing me. Its only a 3 hour drive!! I came up every month to visit her. My point being, i made efforts to see her and she vainly(out of guilt i suppose) contacted me. When i talked to her it was negative stuff that i wouldnt bring up to my child!! What to do??

Some people I know will not give up and accept the fact that I don't believe some of the things they do. I was at a dinner party the other night and basically the whole night was one big lecture, so I left early a little pissed off. How can I tell these people to stop for good and make them understand my views are not going to change and I don't care what their views are?

long story short.
brother=freshman in college
sister=junior in high school
me=middle school
over summer, parents were gone, parties were thrown with not good stuff happening, my sister befriended my brother's friends. months later, parents leave again, party thrown, brother caught, sister said she wasn't there even though she was with her friend...brother got in trouble, sister not. 2 months later, sister and brother go out when brother comes home for weekend from college, go to brothers friends apartment, go to a party, brother leaves, sister stays, gets caught, and recieves drinking ticket. i was told that i was not allowed to tell anyone because she could get kicked off swim team. now, she has a very strict curfew and is being really bitchy all the time, getting prescribed medcation because shes depressed because shes losing all ofher friends cuz of curfew. im saying all of this because...i really needed to tell someone and pour it out. and this is making me depressed because my si

I have lots of people that consider me their best friend, but I'm a afraid to get close to them because I am afraid that i will make them mad. I have a real problem with knowing whether people are sad, happy, or mad, but i'm generally a talkative person. My bf lives in MN and I live in PA. I found in gym class, by his bff, that while running, he stopped and his eyes went in the back of his head and he passed out.. and is now in Region hospital. I'm friends with his best friend, Bailey. So my boyfriend of a year is my best friend. Im 16 and he is 18. We get along great and hes been the only person i can trust with anything. I can talk to him whenever i need to. None of my friends can i talk to whenever i need to, they are extremely lazy and never want to do anything other than watch movies, they gossip.... Which is fun all i need is one person that i can be open with, But then my friends think im being mean by not telling them everything... which isnt true.... i want to try it all. i've been completely sober/innocent for the past 17 years and i'm tired of it. that lifestyle doesn't make me feel good, it makes me feel like im missing out on experiences. i've asked my friend to do it all with me and he said okay but i think he thought i was semi-joking. i smoked my first cigarette with him two days ago and i loved it. i think hes finally realized that i honestly want to try pot and all the other things i told him. he no longer is going to introduce me to those things because he wants me to 'stay innocent' and he said he would feel responsible for screwing me up if he let me do everything i wanted.
