I have lots of people that consider me their best friend, but I'm a afraid to get close to them because I am afraid that i will make them mad. I have a real problem with knowing whether people are sad, happy, or mad, but i'm generally a talkative person. So I wont know if someone is in a mood and I'll say something and it'll make them really really mad. I have no idea how to handle people. What do I do?

You don't need to worry about 'handling people'; you sound pretty normal to me. Maybe a little less talk and a little more listen would help, but you are who you are, and that's who people like. Everybody gets ticked off now and again - we all annoy each other all the time, but that's the thing about friends - you stay friends even when you make each other really mad (as long as you also work on doing nice things for each other). Actions >> Talk. Go ahead and get close when you want - that makes it easier to deal with the blowups and forgive and forget.

If you know that you have done things in the past to make people mad, try to avoid whatever it was that gets them mad.

People get mad if you dominate the conversation. Don't talk only about yourself and make it one-sided. Don't try to top everyone elses stories.

Ask questions. Listen. Reflect. Add your opinion (without being pushy).

If you sense people are clamming up and you're the only one doing the talking, take a step back and involved them more. If people aren't talking, they probably are getting annoyed.

the reason why they get mad is you talk to dam much and at that time they really need you to lend a ear not talk, so they think you are being selfish and thinks about yourself and everything most be about you all the time. so some time you must take the time to observe someone's mood before you being talking. i'm talkative to but i know when to keep the hole in my face close and listen. so you need to try that and see how things go.

Stop thinking about stupid stuff like this and stop talking. Just reading you question has me imagining how bubble- headed and annoying you are to talk to.

Read a book.
