Family - April 2007

I am 38 and the oldest of 4 girls, I just recently got married to a wonderful guy who treats me great, he is very kind and very loving (to everyone). My mother don't know him and refuses to get to know him, when she see's him she loves to be rude to him. I am not close to my mother because she is very controlling and acts like a 5 year old throwing a tantrum when she don't get her way or when I don't do exactly what she wants me to do.
We have a family reunion coming up, I do love my family and I will be attending, with my husband. I do not want my mother treating me or my husband like sh** when we are there. So what do I do or say to her to make her stop acting so immature? I want this cleared up before we go, I really do not want any scene's when we are there, and my mother thrives on that too - help????

My daughter-in-law's parents have announced that they are getting a divorce. It was something that the rest of us saw coming but it was a shock to her and her siblings. She seems to be very depressed now. It is effecting her relationship with my son and she has lost all interest in everyday tasks and things that she use to love to do. I have told her that I want to support her in any way that she needs me to and then backed off. So far she hasn't talked to me much. Since I am the mother-in-law is my best path to just sit back, be there if she asks me to do something but other wise just stay out of all of it? It is putting quite a strain on my son. All I want to do is help but how?

I was in my attic recently checking my AC unit. I was surprised to find what I thought was a dead rat. I went downstairs and got my gloves and a trash bag to dispose of it. When I returned to the attic, I was disgusted to find that it was feces and not the feces of an animal. I beleive that a cable or internet installer did this. I don't mean to be too graphic, but it was mostly dry and smelled like feces, if you get my drift (no pun intended). We had a couple of installers in our attic a few months earlier. I know for a fact that this was not in the attic earlier. We have lived in our home for nearly 7 years and are very familiar with our attic. My parents in law say that this means that someone wanted to curse our family, either because they were jealous or angry with us. Come to think of it, we have had a spell of bad luck lately. What do you think?

He disrespects me cuz I broke up with his friend and thinks that I broke his camera. SO I am feuding with him and she knew this. I said I would not go if he went and she invited him anyways.Should I even go? Why would she even do that?

My niece, at around age 28, started confiding in me that her father (& my brother) had molested her since as far back as she could remember. She remembered this after entering counseling. I immediately believed her because he had molested me as a child and I never told. I felt so much guilt over what happened to her. After about a year or so of listening to her, and after she confronted her father, I decided to tell the rest of the family about what had happened to me as a child and she told them about what had happend to her.

Instead of believing us, some of my family calls us crazy and liars. The revelation of this was supposed to be cathartic for victims, but instead it has only added to my pain.

i have an abusive mother and my father died about 5 years ago, she recently remarried and my step dad is a jerk and lets her and helps her. she was never abused as a child, my g-ma was always a wonderful mother. Just 3 months ago i moved back in with her and things got bad right after that, i go to school with bruses and crap and she fractured my shoulder last year and refractured to like a month ago. what can i do

my mom is ok with my 17 year old bf staying at my house for 2 weeks but, i haven't talked to my dad yet but, my mom did and she said of course he's not happy with it but, do you think maybe he'll soften up and let him stay for 2 weeks, i mean my mom will be on here vaction to spend time with my bf and i, but we will be alone for a whole week because my parents work at night, but we won't do anything because we are waiting for marrage, but what and how should i talk to my dad?

My aunt is a wonderful person. She took me in when I was little. Their moving to another state and she does not want to take me with her. I don't want to move with my mom because her live is messed up and she lives in a bad part of Detroit. What should I do should I get an apartment or just go and live with my mom I am lost. Lives in Wisconsin. Would they have to go to court and do it legally. Child has expressed his feeling to Mother and she has threatened to involve police if he does so. At this time, there is another child that presently for the past month has been refusing to go to the fathers house and she has not forced him to do so and the father has stepped back just to give that child alittle time to think about his actions.

We have those window shades and those thin white shears. Lost of time you can see inside the house through the shears. It is not about me not wanting someone else to see my wife naked. That would not bother me but we live in a neigherhood and I just do not think it is appropriate to do this. Many times I will have to go around an close all the blinds at dusk becouse she is trotting around nude. She just laughs it off and tells me no one can see in. Is this normal. She just does not get it.

my husband is a recovering alcoholic and has been clean for 9 months. Our family's Easter celebration is going to held at my sister's home and she drinks alcohol and is expecting in-laws and friends who do the same. my husband is hesitant to attend because he is still "weak" and sometimes still wants to drink (we have 4 children) but thinks about what he'd be losing. so this is my question: am I wrong in not attending and supporting his decision and spending Easter with my husband and kid's or is my family right in saying that I should go to my sister's for a while anyway? (and i don't want to hurt my sister's feelings by asking for the celebration to be moved to another's home. and i don't want to offend her by asking for a no alcohol day.)

How to deal with Envy? lack confidence & Anger ? My childhood lack of understanding, love and goods in life..As grown up in 20ies
doing something i like such as traveling, shopping seems like bad things coz i felt don't deserve and will be blame as bad child..

Sometimes I felt so unsafe if i am not cuddling myself alone in bed and dreaming...

I persistantly deny myself to the present moment/Felt wrong to be happy now..and pay for it later... I always feel lost like i dont' know who i am or what kind of greatest goal i should aim for... , don't accept the aspect of myself now (friends, job , place of living) i always think "this is not yet who i am "... and i felt embarass to do as normal people would do like go clubbing, participating some events and traveling with friends...If i did that, it must come from some purposes but i won't be relaxing in such crowded and situations..

My relationship now with family is broken because i decided to do so....

i live with my mum and her bf at his house for years i am unemplyed and wish to god i could afford to move out. He thinks i think i own the house and is not easy to get along with we fight sometimes once really bad to the point where i almost got kicked out. i cant stand him. if i say anything that bothers me about him like washing his hands after the toilet and then cooks dinner , i just get yelled at to shut up. what do i do i mean with my best friend? his name is russell and he is totally sweet and i trust him with anything and a few days ago i came to school with a bruise on my face and i told everyone that i fell but he didn't believe me.
