my parents told me when i was still a young kid, i don't understand why some parents wait until their kids are in their teens, it didn't affect me in a bad way at all and it wasn't a sign of bad parenthood like someone else said

I'm pretty real with my kids, there are some things I hold back though...I think its an age appropriate thing. I like my kids to know that I wasn't perfect, nobody is and we all make mistakes. I'm hoping this makes it easier to come to me and talk when they make a mistake. So far, it seems to be working.
I don't think our past is all that bad. The only things I hold back on are related to sex and pot. I don't think my kids want to hear our sex stories, I don't like cleaning up vomit..lol As far as the pot thing, when they bring it up, I'll be honest and real about it.

My parents never told me about their sordid past, I asked my mother once if she smoked dope at all and she totally evaded the question. They told me nice stories etc, because I don't think they wanted me to think "well mum and dad did it so it must be OK"

I dnt think i understand what you mean. All I know about my dad is he was a huge cheater. He always cheated on my mom and his ex-wife. My mom was....nthn really. She wasnt placed in a category. Except that she lost her virginity when she was 14 and yelled at me when I did.

after i graduated high school is when i really learned about my parents...now almost 10 yrs later, stories are still coming out.

when they ask. however, even know, if my daughter tells me something and i have a story that relates to hers i will tell her about it. she knows that i had her when i was in highschool and everything else. so i guess when the time is right.

my aprentes told me when iw as 16 years old on bacation.they denied it when they got home for a while, but is nt it better that they trust you enough to let you into who they were?
