My boyfriend wants to get his little sister some books but she doesn't really read much. What are some books that you would recommend for a 14 year old girl?

Everyday I will come home from work (I live with my parents--I just moved back home) and there will be some sort of crisis situation with lots of yelling, huffing, puffing and blaming. I just go to my room and shut the door, however it doesn't block out the noise and my stress and axiety levels are constantly increasing. Today the lock box containing my birth certificate is missing (and so my mum thinks we've been robbed)....yesterday it was a bill discovered unpaid....

I am 27 years old, and it seems to me that I am treated as if I am 16.

- I moved back in for 1 year so save up money. I am moving out this summer.

- EXAMPLE: My parents are taking our family on a vacation. They are worried about me getting back in time to go to the airport, since I have a commitment with my students the night before.

MY PARENTS: "You listen here... wipe that smirk off your face....why can't you just leave early from that so you can make sure you get to the airport....."

It doesn't seem like they treat me like my colleagues do at work. I am an adult, and I teach 200 students a week.

Any thoughts on why I feel treated like I am 16?

I've been dating a man for 7 years (since I was 15 and he was 22). Since about two months into the relationship he has been physically, sexually and emotionally abusive. I've had it. I know another man who is wonderful, who deserves my trust and my time and who is willing to be there for me through all of the horrible things that are happening. My boyfriend and I have a two year old daughter, and I really do not want to brave a woman's shelter with her. Also I've heard that if you're not badly abused, you'll be resented in shelter. I don't know if that's true, but he usually doesn't leave bruises, hitting me in the hair-covered part of my head, and doing other things that leave no marks.

The problem is that I have nowhere to go. We live with my mother, my friends all live with their parents or are not an option, my dad is out. I have no job and no money. I didn't finish high school because of the baby. How do I get out?

(The other man is not an option. He's in college, with no job.)

My father died last summer. Since then, my mother has changed completely. She stares vacantly, is visibly depressed, and has started developing nervous facial tics. My sister and I are very worried about her. However, when we try to gently talk to her about it she gets very defensive and denies anything we say. Getting her out of the house doesn't seem to do anything. We just don't know what to do for her. It's gotten to the point where we really think she's losing her mind. I just need advice on how to help her cope with this, how to keep her from going insane...

My grandma lives with us and all she does all day is talk on the phone for at least 5 hours a day. This ties up our phone lines and she doesn't hear the call waiting so those who try and call us cant get through while she is on the phone. She lyes in bed on the phone talking bad about everyone. I am getting tired of it. One time she called my mother a lousy housewife and cook. She also buys and buys and buys. Everyday something new is coming to the house. Her room is so cluttered right now because half of the stuff she buys she does not use. When she came here she had at least 5 charges totaling $40,00 and she had to pay those off and now has no more money in the bank except what she recieves monthly from retirement. I can't stand it anymore she was left with 13 houses from her 2nd husband and has no money. The state she left us her house in was unbearable we found so many new things that she had never used and we had to clean it all out and redo it for people to rent it.

I wrote this poem for a family member who is about to die of cancer... I would like some unbiased thoughts before giving it to him. Feedback?

Slipping, in quiet dignity,
Yielding to black river’s might;
Still many gripped by morbid awe,
For somebody has died tonight.

Hushed whispers, their motley circle,
On fear and infamy they thrive.
Strangers bound by others’ despair
But what mind, were he still alive?

Driving alone under gray sky,
Light fading on a one-way street;
My mind drowned in melancholy
For promise we shan’t again meet.

This agony of consciousness,
The tragic place in which we stay,
Consumes my fragile heart; and yet
I knew him, on a better day.

well my brother just recently called me today and crying which he never does and freaked me out because he was crying. I asked him what's wrong and he didn't want to tell me so then i finally had to guess and he said he thinks he bisexual. And he was crying because he thought i was going to see him differently or stop talking to him! I immedeately told him to not worry about it and i was upset that he saw me as this horrible monster who would get mad at him and stop talking to him! I told him that was his own choice and life style and i was nobody to judge him! he told me that he had found out or was thinking about it like about a year ago and barely had the guts to tell me right now. O fcourse i love my brother and this is not going to change the way i see him he is still going to have my respect and love as a sister! i just wanted to know if any of you have gone thru the same thing?

Just got the word that my reservist son will be stationed for 3 months on base before being sent to Iraq for approx 7 months (tentative date, ironically is, 9/11).

I'm going thru such a range of emotions...how did you cope? What, if anything, helped you deal with it? He's my youngest son & we've always been close. I cried for a month straight when he was away at bootcamp!

Please help!

This question just popped out of my head when I think of my Dad who passed away just a year ago. My mom and dad have been together for more than 40 years.

I wonder which hurts more--losing your dearest husband or losing your child?

it seems as though every day we get in an argument, many of times her fault. right now im doing terrible in school, just witnessed my grandmas death, and my friends are trying to get me to smoke pot, she is aware of all these things, yet she still seems to try and make me upset all the time, i have tried being nice within these arguments, but the outcome turns out as, "because i said so". wich annoys me even further. the reason i stated "my moms a stupid piece of ****" is because these arguments happen because of her small memory and slow procces of thought, "or so it would appear she has", i have tried avoiding her to dodge future arguments, but she just keeps pestering me, and it turns into a bigger argument, (weird thing is, ive been in many arguments, but its only my mom who gets me to the point where im sad enough to tear up, she knows all of my weak points and never fails to use them. what should i do?

At school I have to write a fictional story about 2 charectors. Tell me if you like this Summary or Idea.....
Okay, so this girl Nora moves in and her dad is in the navy. There is no playgrounds around because the town is poor. The kids have nothing to play with so they play in this tree at this abandon house. Nora moves into this abandon house and her family fixes it up and cuts down the tree. All the kids hate Nora because she cut down their only fun. One day, Nora asks someone why everyone hates her because she still doesn't know. This girl Kasey tells her and she is really upset. The next week a girl named Erica moves in & Nora thinks it's another person to hate her but then she realizes that Erica doesn't know about the tree. They become best friends and live happily ever after. So that's my story.... Do you think there could be any changes and do you like the Idea? Hey it's fictional! I also need a title. Please Help! It's due tomorrow!
