I am 27 years old, and it seems to me that I am treated as if I am 16.
- I moved back in for 1 year so save up money. I am moving out this summer.
- EXAMPLE: My parents are taking our family on a vacation. They are worried about me getting back in time to go to the airport, since I have a commitment with my students the night before.
MY PARENTS: "You listen here... wipe that smirk off your face....why can't you just leave early from that so you can make sure you get to the airport....."
It doesn't seem like they treat me like my colleagues do at work. I am an adult, and I teach 200 students a week.
Any thoughts on why I feel treated like I am 16?

I will be 2.5 hours away. I am planning on leaving by 8 PM. They are screaming that I should leave sooner, since you never know if your car breaks down, etc...and you can't risk it, BLAH BLAH.

Well, I am barely 16, so perhaps you would prefer an older person's view on things. Personally, I think that no matter how old you are, parents will ultimately still treat you as their child, because you are, obviously, still their child. Parents may not recognize you as being more mature despite what profession you are or how successful you may be, because genetics means that you will always be their kid and that's how they'll treat you.
Also, I think that because you are living with them again, it might seem to them as if you are their "teenage child" again and perhaps that is the reason. If you haven't been in contact with them BEFORE you've moved in, perhaps they simply don't know what other way to communicate with you other than how they communicated to you when you were 16.
...Orrrr maybe they're just a bit irked that you've been staying with them for a year; or maybe you're over-reacting.
Just my two cents. :)

They are probably stressed right now, and still miss their kid from when you were younger, because children are the most adored people ever, and parents really miss their childhoods. They probably still like you as their little girl. Moving in and moving out is a big part of adulthood life. Even if you don't, you are still an adult, but it all changes after periods of time, whether after marriage, kids, past emotional, relationship stages. Your parents will get the hang of it, that you are now an adult. Don't worry.

Parents will always be treating you like a child not until they pass on or until they have grandkids. It's pretty hard on our part to not understand how they feel. Obviously, they love you very much and of course they miss the times that they have to care for you while your away. So if you're really bangin' your head because they love you so much to be still treatin' you like a kid, go get married and have kids then take them to visit their grandparents. That'll solve your problem. =)

Your parents are always going to be your parents... You are lucky they treat you like this... that means they still love you like you are 16... some people have never experienced the love of a parent... If you want them to treat you better yell at them the next time they treat you like that

I am 27 and my parents still treat me like a kid too. i stood up to them and told them they needed to treat me as an adult ....but i am the baby of the family so i do not know how that will work.sometimes i feel they treat me okay and sometimes like a kid who does not know anything ...that really gets on my nerves. Good luck!

Your parents are going to treat you like a child for the rest of your life, that's just how it is, no matter how old you get, you're still their child.

It's because even if you're older you will NEVER be old to your parents. They will always see you as their sunshine and try to protect you. Try to talk to them tell them you'll always be their little sweetheart but they need to give you space and let you live your life like an adult.

well... parents are always going to treat you like they're, well, your parents.
no matter how old you are, you'll still be their little kid.
just tell them you'll be fine and the only way for them to find out how right you are is by waiting and seeing when the "airport" day finally arrives.
