OK, here's the scoop: I have no idea of how to become a great, loving, and caring mother. I want to be like my late mother who was excellent, but she died when I was young. I don't have children of my own, but I do take care of my niece as if I was "momma" and I am a godmother to several children. I'm 23 years old, and I am more career-oriented than family-oriented. My career aspirations are very important to me insomuch I don't have time for a boyfriend, which I wouldn't mind having after I finish establishing my career. I would love any advice from mothers, fathers, and grandparents. I want my niece to grow up to be very successful and happy. She's only a baby now. Please offer me some suggestions. Thank you in advance.

He has never known his parents together. They never go to any functions together. In the beginning when we met he liked me. And after a few months he turned into a mean little devil. I love his dad and we've been together for over one year and in it for the long run. Yet I feel sometimes that this is too much to handle. Jim is on my side. He thinks we just have to give him time. But from what I see, it is only getting worse.

Thank you for taking the time. Merry Christams!

What is up with my sister in law?We live 2 houses away from each other but yet we never see or speak to each other for a month or more at a time and then all of a sudden she emails me 28 times in the run of a day with pictures, jokes and jibber jabber. Our relationship has always been love or hate mainly because ever since i met my husband she has been jealous of me.She will say catty things to me and totally ignore me if one of her friends are around and then out of the blue call me or email me like nothing happened.Am i just suppose to forget all the stuff she has said and done to me and welcome her with open arms or tell her to get lost? She is a very insecure person and likes to make people think that she is so in control of her life and that no one is as happy as her and her husband. They spend 90% of there time trying to keep up with everyone. That would make anyone unhappy.Does anyone have any idea what the heck is her problem?Serious answers only please!

my mother is so annoying, I am the eldest of 4 girls and my mother constantly boasts non stop about one of my sisters because she has model looks, we re all attractive but all very different, she sits in company and boasts about my sister while the rest of us just sit there feeling like idiots! my youngest sis is off to uni soon my other sis is a single parent with an autistic child I am bringing up my 5 sons, but the reality is the sister she favours most cos of her looks is lazy wont work, sleeps around is selfish but my mother says shes sensible cos she chooses to be on her own and dosent have any children, the sad reality is shes had 3 abortions and 2 misscarridges all one night stands my mother dosent even know about she carnt keep a bloke cos they dont come back after they get what they want, how can I make my mother see that theres more to life than looks and get her to recognise our achivements without her flying off the handle?

For last three days I've been at my mom's house, she basically have been using me as a baby sitter for my half brother. She keep tell me she'll take me to do shopping with her or take me for xmas dinner shopping, and many other things to try make it up. Last night, she say she have to go to doctor appt. today and after that she'll take me to do shopping after that.

This morning, she told me she can't take me shopping because my grandpa is bringing my uncle who I live in same city with over so he can park on couch and get drunk. She want me to baby sit him too because my grandpa doesn't feel good!

So for last three days I've basically been doing her lot of favors. She always seems to have some empty way of saying thank you and alway need me to do something for her. It's boring to death over here, especially since my half brother spend most of the day at his friends' house and when my uncle get here, he'll basically watch television and drink all day. What should I do?

My mother never greets me with a hug or kiss. The lack of our relationship now I have my own children really hurts and my children have no grandmother. I've tried talking to her and she hates it. She never listens to anyone.

What do I do? I am a sophmore and really struggling in college right now and this past semester my grade point average has dropped to a 1.67 and am now on academic probation. Do I still have a chance of getting into the nursing program if I try to get my grades up? Is there a chance I can get them up to get in the nursing program the end of my junior year?

What gets you in the mood to clean your house? Most of the time, I do it and enjoy it and it doesn't take me long, i'm a pretty organized cleaner. But other times I just want to sit on the couch or I get stuck here at Yahoo Answers, you know how it goes. I have certain music that gets me going , I even have "house cleaning" movies I like to have on. But occasionally I fall into a rut and get lazy. I never let my house get gross, but I do let the laundry pile up and neglect bed-making duties. Is it just me, or are there others out there that go through this?

My 16 year old sister in law seems to have a severe drinking problem. A couple of months ago she took an ambulance ride to the ER to treat alcohol poisoning. Her mom was really upset and after my S-I-L sobered up she promised not to do it again. I found out that last weekend she drank herself into a fit again and passed out, foamed at the mouth, convulsed, etc. and her friends almost called 911. My husband and I called my M-I-L to tell her what we had heard because we are worried our little sister has a serious drinking problem. My M-I-L asked the 16-year old what happened and she denied the whole thing, said it was a lie and the story is about her friends, not her. My M-I-L wants to give her daughter the benefit of the doubt - but I think she is in denial. My husband says to drop the issue. I say we need to sit down with my M-I-L and tell her that it really did happen and if she doesn't intervene, her daughter could kill herself. So - what should we do? Drop it or deal with it? Thanks

I have noticed that different people have different relationships with their parents/family. What is your relationship like?

I have a rough realtionship, where I am in a nice position with my parents, I find that we have a lot of arguments due to the fact that i am a teen. I love my brothers with all my heart, but we get in fights all the time. :)

Ok I need some advice. Everyone on both sides of my family mom and dads at one point in their life have asked me for favors and there are a few including mom and dad that are constantly asking. Things from find me a mortgage broker, to a car to an attorney to translating things. None of them speak enough english to feel comfortable doing these things themselves. I have told my mom how I like helping but at times it gets overwhelming. Sometimes I avoid some of them and I feel bad bc I do want to help and I always do but there have been times I've gotten sooo stressed out I was at the point of tears. Anyone else dealt with this or have suggestions? Oh have to go ones calling right now....

who refuses to pay you for babysitting? I watched my sister's baby for her while she worked about fifty hours a week. I started watching him in september, and she paid me for the month of september. Watched him again for the month of october. I was trying to help her out, charging her $1/hr for approx 50 hours a week and she was supposed to pay me at the end of the month. She informed me on the last day that I watched him in oct (the day that she was to pay me) that she couldn't pay me right then (didn't make arangements as to when she would be able to pay me) and had never mentioned not being able to pay me until I told her what the total due was. I later that week told her that I would no longer watch her kid. I did this to help her out as well as my family since I am a SAHM with three kids of my own. She told me around thanksgiving, when I called and asked her about it, that she would pay me when she got paid next (she gets paid every other week)
