What gets you in the mood to clean your house? Most of the time, I do it and enjoy it and it doesn't take me long, i'm a pretty organized cleaner. But other times I just want to sit on the couch or I get stuck here at Yahoo Answers, you know how it goes. I have certain music that gets me going , I even have "house cleaning" movies I like to have on. But occasionally I fall into a rut and get lazy. I never let my house get gross, but I do let the laundry pile up and neglect bed-making duties. Is it just me, or are there others out there that go through this?

My perfect husband does do stuff all the time, he "kicks" me out of the kitchen after dinner and does the laundry I leave behind if he needs it, but then I feel sooooo guilty!! He works all day, I don't expect him to clean when he gets home. In fact, I don't like anyone else cleaning. You know, we gals have our ways of doing things. ;-)
And, I'm not bored, I'm a homebody. I'm free to do whatever, but I love being at home. this is what I've wanted since I was a little girl playing "house" and I have been blessed enough to marry a man that can allow me to do this. My life was crazy before him and I fully appriciate my quiet life now, I wouldn't trade it for anything!!!

I also have to add my husband never complains, I'm telling you.... HE IS PERFECT!!! Our 7 year anniversary is coming up and through all of my not-so- great, try something new dinners, my lack of keeping my laundry load down and the (cough, cough...) "marriage" weight I've put on, he tells me I'm beautiful. I just want to give credit where credit is due....

Get help from the father. When I come home from work I usually vacuum, straighten up and put the laundry away. It is really nice that she can run the errands during the day when stores are not as crowded.

Also lower your standards a big. Things do not have to be perfect.

Sometimes cleaning my house has to wait because I'm a stay-at-home mom and my kids need me. Sometimes however if I know someone is coming over, I will clean it up. I'm exhausted a lot of the time which I think most mom's are and I have to take a break and just relax. I'm learning how to do that when I haven't done that before.

Just remember people don't come to your house to see your mess, they come to hopefully see you. Someone told me that once. If you like it clean, then do it for you.

I don't call it, 'lazy' when you have a day to relax. It is just that...relaxing. Mom's need it too. Our jobs never end. They are everyday, every minute of the day. Don't feel guilty from having to take a break from now and then. I used to because I knew if I didn't clean the house, it wouldn't get clean, but sometimes you have to stop and think about the things that are more important such as your kids, your husband, and yourself.

Moms have to take care of themselves too so that you can take care of your family and everything else that follows.

I go through the same thing, also. I usually get stuck playing with my 2 babies. You're not lazy, just human! And you've got a wonderful husband, too. Be VERY thankful that you've got a hubby that helps out. Most men won't lift a finger when they come home from work. My hubby does the laundry and I'm quite happy about that. If it doesn't bother him, then don't let it bother you!

I am not a stay-at-home mom but its like you know me! I so get the same way. As soon as I am supposed to get up and start cleaning I find its so much easier to cuddle up on the couch and watch a movie.
I also have my cleaning music but its never enough to get me going.
I usually just have to get up and start doing some type of cleaning. I usually start with the dishwasher and then work my way around the house.

Are you me?

I've started making lists everyday with my goals-clean bathrooms, make beds, 1 load of laundry.

Today I swept the floor, vaccumed, dusted the dining room and straightened up. And that's all I'm going to do! I hurry up and get the list done so I can feel like I deserved to slack.

Hubby always helps too when he gets home.

OH gawd NOTHING gets me in the mood to clean... I hate it but do it because I refuse to hire a maid!!

I guess if I see my husband doing anything around the house that would make me get off my butt and get to it. Not wanting to but NOT wanting HIM to is a stronger desire. He works hard all day and I feel he should not have to come home and do anything. I generally hae everything done for him except repairs on the furnace and such.

I wish the house wouldn't get dirty but no such luck!!

: )

Going through it at this very moment. We are having my husband's work party at our house tomorrow night and my son is being babysat at his grandma's right now so I have all afternoon to clean. And what do you think I'm doing....answering this question:)

I think when you are constantly surrounded by housework it can drive you a bit crazy. And when you stay at home there is always tomorrow to do the cleaning.....

I believe this is normal. My husband on the other hand does not. He calls it lazy. It can be a sign of depression. Even if you do not feel down or blue, a sign of depression is not wanting to do anything. I think your normal, but if you have any other tell tale signs, you might should talk with a doctor.

i am a stay at home mother of three boys and i understand where you are coming from. i sometimes get in a lazy mode too. my husband works all day and he comes home and helps me also without complaining but i dont feel guilty about him giving me a hand because it is truly harder and more stressful to stay at home with children than to go out and work all day. i mean i feel like i work all day and the job is never done. i enjoy staying at home with my kids but i also need help sometimes so dont feel guilty about it just consider yourself lucky that your husband is so helping and understanding.good luck!!!!

sounds like youre bored of your lifestyle. your a stay at home mom, but youre also an individual. make sure you do other activities for yourself that are self gratifying and cleaning will just be something you have to do before you do something more fun. get involved in life. there is a so much more we all could be doing.
