My dad hates my boyfriend even though e is good to me. My boyfriend is training to be a doctor, looks after my daughter from a previous relationship and is great in every single way. My dad hasnt worked for 20 years, is abusive and constantly nasty to me. He doesnt like anyone and slags everyone off including my mum and my brother and sister. My bf refuses to go to the house and wants nothing to do with him and even though i agree, it upsets me. This causes alot of strain but my boyfriend is a great man. Any suggestions?

She's a wonderful girl, very good student, has never hurt me or done something bad, just those normal minors faults. She treats me and my hubby with love. But she goes out to much, it's hard to find time to talk with her, hard to get qualty time. She has many activities, takes part in voluteering activities, swims, a lot of things. Sometimes I miss her so much and since I have a job, things are even more difficult. Well, last weekend my hubby was on a trip, I was feeling lonely so I grounded her just to have her with me. I didn't let her go out, friends just for 1 hour Saturday and Sunday. She asked me What did I do to be grounded???, I just said, well you, you...wel Im your mom and have the right to ground you hun, but don't worry, I'll treat you with all my love. She didnt enjoy her grounding, but at least we finally could talk, I had a wonderful weekend. She just sighed in resignation, made no fuss. It was just a grounding, not a punishment, but she's a bit confused.

My little brother was killed in a motorcycle accident 5 days before his 19th birthday last year. My parents have had a very hard time dealing with this, I thought it would be nice to make a donation in his name and present it to them at Christmas. I don't know which charity to choose. My brother liked animals, cars and everything that a teenage boy would like. I tried the whole "name a star" thing, but found out it was mainly a scam. Does anyone have any ideas of a charity that I could donate to that would send a card or let me print a certificate when I donate so I have something to present. My top choices so far were the Make a Wish Foundation or the Humane Society of the United States.

we just had our first born almost 3 months ago and my mommy instincts kicked in immediately.
i feel like all my husband thinks he needs to do is go to work everyday (i work f/t too).
how can i tell him he needs to dig in at home without making him feel like a bad dad??
he is a great person and i love him so much, but i need him to pitch in more.

do guys just need someone to tell them what to do??? i mean, instead of expecting him to just know what to do, should i be making him a list or directing him???

thanks all!

I live with my uncle. He supports me financially. He put me through college, and still paying for my grad school. Recently he's become an as-s. He insults me all the time, and calls me names. I guess it could it could amount to verbal abuse. On one hand i feel like i should respect him and lay low because he is helping me out. On the other, i feel like **** all the time and i cant take this anymore. He has been physically abusive at times. Im 22, and cant really afford a place of my own yet. You know he is only nice when he is drunk. other than that its like living with satan. I wish that one, day,i can move out at night and not even tell him. He is an ********

My Husband told me not to buy her daughters presents and I think it's because of his wife. I think she's just jelous that she ain't pretty or slim like me, I think she hates me because she's ugly. She hates me because she won't let her daughters dress pretty, she dresses them like tomboys and that's wrong. She got mad at me because I tried to pretty them up with cute outfits, she is just a hate filled troll that's all she is and she's manipulating my brother. Why won't she let her daughters dress pretty, why do they have to look like guys all thet time, maybe she's a lesbo.

After my brother told me I can't be around his daughters, I was thinking what if I have a daughter. I can teach her how to be a lady and how to dress pretty and not ugly like those tomboys. Is it worth it though, I don't wanna ruin my figure or get stretch marks, i'd die if that happened.

Im not sure if my sister is actually really sick or just attention seeking.
I love her but in the past, she has pretended to be sick in order to get attention.
She refuses to eat and wont sleep.
She is my twin sister and usually if she is sick , i would get a feeling about it but people in the family has asked me to ignore her.
Im scared she might become really sick if nobody takes care of her. . .what should i do?

Every Saturday we have a "girls night". We play video games, gossip, and drink. In the morning everybody goes home. Well my husband's sister was invited by a friend we share mutually. She has been over to our house before with her baby and I was unhappy. The reason's being, the kid crawls and our house is not baby proof. The child was grabbing everything and the mother did nothing to stop it. My husband and I spent the whole night chasing the child instead of entertaining guests. She breast fed her baby on the couch which is fine but when the baby threw up she covered it with a pillow for me to find later in the evening. I can't tell her not to bring the child because my husband will be upset, but I work hard and want to enjoy an evening without a screaming child destroying all our things. How can i compromise without sounding like an asshole to my husband and his sister?

I got pregnant 3 months after dating my bf, we are stationed in germany(ARMY), he said he wanted the baby and that we could make it as a family. He got out the army and went back America now he has been gone 10 months, he keeps saying he will be back this month but somehow he always has other excuses, he has not even seen his son, i know he is down about it and i also know that he has debt that why he cant afford the ticket, but how do i know when its time to just give him up.

My mother in law recently sent this letter to my mother..."We will be blessing R***** with my sewing machine, I have bought a new digital one for quilting I’ve been wanting for a long time. We are also going to bless them with our camcorder – I know they really want to get longer video’s than their digital camera can take. (And we grandparents would love some video’s of these precious ones!) Both of these are hand-me-down gifts so we’ll also be getting them some practical stuff too (clothes and little things they need)." Now normally I would be okay with this. But I think it is WRONG to do this for a holiday. The past year we've been "blessed" with her hand-me-downs such as a dining room table, computer desk, grill... but these were all given at random times, never on a holiday wrapped in pretty paper.
Would anyone else do this? Am I being overly critical? Or is it no class, poor taste, so on and so forth?

2006-12-06 21:18:59 · 4 answers · asked by Rhysie 2

How would someone tell their mother in law to take a long walk off a short pier? Should I call her with my husband and tell her everything that she's ever done that has hurt us or made us pissed? Or should we just stop going over there and avoid her at all costs. I'm wondering if we'll be better off without her in our lives to make us crazy, or if we should think of our kids and their relationship with her. (Granted they are 3 and 3months old, so they don't really HAVE a relationship yet.) She called us tonight and was her usual horrible self, and asked us to trudge over to her house to put up her Christmas lights and tree. (Father in law had back surgery last week, or he'd do it.) My husband works two jobs, and is just getting over the flu. They have a 18 year old boy living at home now, but he's pretty useless. He doesn't help at all, except he gets all the perks of living with the rich parents. We're poor as dirt, but anyway, I digress...
What to do... What to do...

Friends of ours have been married for over 10 years.

The wife spends all her spare time with her mum and family, and is "too tired" to communicate with the husband, much less anything else... Although she sees to the children's physical needs, she is emotionally disconnected and highly critical of him continuously - often keeping him up until early hours of the morning with shouting, cursing, telling him how worthless he is and how miserable he makes her, and that he is not permitted to sleep until she is done.
He is a softy that would do anything for the sake of his children but says he's not sure how much longer he can take the treatment.
