Sometimes they clash as they are simply born with their own in-built beliefs, desires, wants, needs despite the fact they have the ame parentage and same environment. We are all differerent souls. I think siblings quarrel because they are trying to find their position in the family. Something like dogs fighting for the head of the pack. It's really pretty silly, because in the end, nobody comes first.

The ones who fight all the time almost always are the ones who are the closest. When you are with someone 24/7, especially in small kids, they feel a competitive need to vie for the parents' attention. Parents see them as equals, but they see it as one has to be 'better' than the other.

Responsiblility usually. The older sib is always having to look over the younger so the younger sib gets to be the kid and the older sib has to take on the roll of guardian. If the sibs are young then it is selfishness, self preservation, and power of the fittest. Well it's an answer!
