I just don't get why it's always celebreties and athletes and musicians who get blamed for the mistakes their children make. Parents need to pony up and take responsibility for their children and their actions.

My husband's mother is controlling. My husband is her only child and when he joined the Army 2 years ago when he came home from training she wanted my husband spend about 2 or 3 days with her only and we had been married less than 8 months (he didn't). For 7 of those 8 he was in training. Things didn't get any better when our son was born in March. She came to my house (she's in Dallas. TX we are in KS) 2 days after he was born and she came inside and took him out of my arms without asking! She did that for the week she stayed. My husband tells her to back off a lot but with no success. Now that he is deploying, I am going home for Christmas and will be staying with my parents. My relatives haven't met my son and all of my hubby's have. I am goign to Alabama with my mom so my relatives can see Connor and his mom wants me to go to two family Christmases 1 in Houston, TX & 1 in Paris, TX, right after I get back. I said I'd be in Paris, but she's planning my vacation for me! Help

My boyfriend's son is turning six and I would like to get him something pretty cool for his bday. He's into Game Boy and Ninja turtles... but I'd like to get him something other than a game that most likely someone else will bring to his party! Help!

after my parents divorced when i was a year old, my dad & i moved in w/ my grandma until i was 16. my dad bought her house and she built her house right next door to us. i am now 20. i still live w/ my dad, hold a job and go to college. in high school i was never allowed to hang out w/ my friends (that my grandma knew of anyway). now i feel i shouldnt have to hide the fact that i hang out w/ my friends and yes party. but now my grandma wont talk to me b/c of who my friends are. she wont even acknowlege me as her granddaughter. i wasnt even invited to my grandpa's b-day party. i dont come home drunk or anything and my grades are B average. she's making up things and telling my dad and other family members that i am smoking, having sex with minors and crap like that. she even went and called my 16yrold friends dad and told him that we r sleeping together. im also inheriting money from a dead uncle and my grandma says she wont give me the money cause im not her grandchild anymore.

US that want nothing more in life than to be adopted into a loving family? I just don't get it. I think it's "oh look at me, I'm such a wonderful person"...I think it's more about the celebs and the publicity and them wanting to feel good about themselves than it is about the child. Thoughts?

My daughter has all of a sudden started crying really bad when I put her to bed. Nothing has changed in our family or her room. I took her off the "binky" a week ago, and has been fine until just a couple of days ago. How do I get her to sleep in her room again?

To anyone adopted.
Hey! i was adopted when very young and i'm soon going to meet my natural mum. Any advice from someone who's done the same? i'd love to hear about it. Also, i'm really curious to know if i am like her in any way. Did you find you shared anything with your natural parents such as likes and dislikes?

Our daughter, who is almost 21 just moved back home. She stayed the night with her boyfriend (who has his own place) and I'm not sure how to handle this. I was raised with strict parents and that was never allowed. I'm pretty open minded and as long as she calls to let me know and doesn't do this too often, I'm actually OK with it. (the boyfriend is not allowed to stay at our house overnight). She's a good person, works fulltime and pays her own bills. The problem is we have a son still at home, he's 14. I've always been open with him but I'm not sure if I want him to know exactly whats going on with this situation. What do I tell him if he asks where she is?

Yesterday, 10/10/06 was my first doctor's visit. I am 7 weeks based on my first day of my last period, which was 8/15/06. My OB did a virginal sonogram and no fetus was found. The sac was there alone. My OB also told me that the sac is too low in the uterus and this may not be a good pregnancy. Is it possible that I am early, and my conception was in September, and not in August and I’m 1 month along the way. Should I worry? Please advise! My OB did a pap smear and a pregnancy blood test. I have to visit him next Tuesday

My Bf and I have been together for 6 yrs. We have a house, and we are 25 and 29. I am ready to start trying to get pregnant. He always told me since the 2nd year we've been together that 29-30 years old for him was a good age to start a family... And I always had in mind 25-26 for me. Now that he turns 29 in January, he is pushing the date back 3-4 years........ How do I make him see that He is not negotiating and that I do not want to wait that long. Who knows how long it could take to actually conceive. I need to make him understand my point of view....He sees it that if we have a baby now we will never get to do anything ever again......

Do you ever lock your child in his room, bathroom, or closet? Which one? and for how long?

My reason asking is because I heard on the radio today that a father was sent to jail for child abuse for locking his 11 year old child in his room all day. The kid obviously told his school and they reported it.

I do lock my child in his room but just for 7 minutes (his age). If I didn't lock it, he'd come out.

Parents cast burden on their children by their expectations. They want their children to be ultra sucessful in their career and studies and expect them to be exceptionally good in their studies. They make the career of their child a prestige symbol. Though do not myself agree tp this very much, i want to know your thoughts with good reasons. Please be as quick in answering as you can.
