My mother passed away last year around her birthday. She would be 50 years old this year and I am planning a birthday and memorial dinner. What are some ideas of things we could do during the dinner to celebrate her life and offer tribute to her legacy? Any ideas are appreciated. She loved butterflies...

thanks.

It started months ago at first it was he could only see his son on certern weekends then she would not come to any family event where his ex ( his sons mother) would be now that we have gotten angry about this she has twisted it and is poisioning his mind agenst his family. We have not had any contact with him for months and any time we do try to say something she twists it to use agaist us. clearly she has issues and that is the reason she is making his world so small, to the point where he is totally reliant on her and her alone. his friends dont contact him anymore cause he turns them away (probably under instruction) the worst part is that his son of 11 years has muscular dystrophy and will have a shortend life span anyway. My brother is missing all these good times with him. Any ideas how to show him were not evil and we love and miss him with out her twisting it?

My sister is griping and complaining about this incident today in which I went to work and left the chainsaw gassed up and ready to go for my nephew to come over (he lives down the street) and cut up a tree that had fallen in the backyard. We agreed that I would give him 10 dollars for this. He's a nice kid I and plays baseball so he has good hand eye coordination. Besides, a month ago, he said he liked my chainsaw and asked me if he could play with it. I showed him how to crank it up and handed it to him and he was just having a blast. Well, anyways now my sister (his mom) calls me up this afternoon after he told her he was using the chainsaw and got some woodchips in his eye. Hey that isn't my fault - i left the safety goggles for him, but you know kids - they think they are invincible. Anyways, the kids okay now and he learned a valuable lesson to use safety goggles. Now my sister says he isn't allowed at my house for a long time. I just feel so wronged here.

And take him out of School for it? My 14 yr. old nephew has become quite analytical for his age and I'm concerned the people he is around are indoctrinating him. He'a always challenging me now about my political beliefs. Should i be concerned? Ignore it?

She has only dated him 3 months, and was gonna give up her job, everything to go 150 miles away to live with him. I was so worried, although we have met him, we don`t know him that well. Whilst i was reading your answers, most supportive, she came in, and told me, she has changed her mind, she loves me (her mum) too much, and does not want to leave her family. Although, i am so releived, i love her so much, she is the best daughter ever, this guy is pressuring her to go, but i don`t want to get too involved, it is hard for her. Do I just keep cool, and trust her decision, she promised me, she will not go, but i do not like the way he is "on" at her to change her mind. I know now, she does not want to go. If, and when, do i step in, do not forget, he is 35, she is 18, she went to bed confused, her cellphone bleeping constantly, from him, trying to change her mind. When does a parent have the right to "interfere", when your child is being influenced?

I want this party to be something my kids always remember as well as their friends. I have many Ideas but am wanting more and more.
For the first part I will have a bucket of ice and a stop watch, and the top six kids who can hold thier foot in the ice the longest move on the the next round. The second part will beplacing plastic cups on a table and handing them a ball, the number written on the cup is the number of milk bones they have to eat. No more than three. anyone who finishes their task moves to the final round. In the final round needs to be a daring physical challenge that is not so dangerous that the kids get hurt. I thought maybe a balance beem that is no higher than three feet but I wanted something more daring than that. Also how do I make sure all the kids have a blast even the ones that dont move on to the next round. I thought purhaps I could do another round for those left out . a final round with a great challange idea. I have deco and food taken care of.

The topic of old wise tales came up today. I was surprised at some of the different ones I heard. What wise tales do you remember as a child? i.e. Swallow a watermellon seed and it will grow out of your ear.
