What else is he into? When my nephew was that age he was really into art and he loved to draw. I got him a huge art set that he loved. Does he live with you? What about a pet? Something small, like a lizard (one that doesn't get too big). There are a ton of different Ninja Turtle things out there. And most boys dig anything that moves and makes noise. Some type of radio controlled car or truck....He's six, he'll be psyched with anything you give him. Good luck!

He likes ninja turtles, so why not get him a pet turtle? If you go to your local pet store they can tell you everything you need to get started (cage, heat lamp, etc.) If you don't live together, I would check with your boyfriend first because he'd probably have to share in the caring for it and provide it with food, etc. Do you know any of the boy's friends? Maybe they can give you a few ideas.

His own moonwalk.
The only issue is if you're willing to spend this much on your boyfriend's son.
I'm linking Ebay because it's the only place that I've found the exact moonwalk I'm posting and it's $100 + $50 shipping. You and your boyfriend could split the cost. (You might be able to find it elsewhere if you're not into Ebay.)
It has soccer goals, a volleyball net, basketball goals and a ball or two is provided.
I thought this was the most unique thing to buy when searching for a gift for my son - of course, he's only one so we bought him a toddler version.

get him some books - like ninja turtle books -kids get too many toys and not enough of them are educational. If he is six, then he is probably learning to read.

What you do is you and your boyfriend bring the little guy out and let him pick out a gift from you, or bring him out give him the money and let him pick out his gift and pay for it. This is the best my family members give my daughter gift cards so she can buy what she wants, and she calls them later to tell them what she had bought with there gift cards or even money

Transformers are pretty cool. Also building sets such as Legos (they like SpongeBob ones), or Bionicles.

Kindergarten and 1st grade level CD-Roms... They are usually pretty fun and good for reinforcing skills he needs to master.
