I dislike all the fake happiness associated with the Christmas season. It seems like all of the sudden, everyone is filled with the joy and love of sharing and giving to those less fortunate. People are all the sudden more tolerant of each other and take time to sit back and acknowledge the beauty in everything and everyone around them.... shouldn't this be done every day of the year?
It's all about who gets what and how much they get and being the first to get it. Try to go Christmas shopping at the mall and you'll likely end up wanting to beat the stuffing out of more than a few pushy shoppers.
New Year's is depressing because it's the end of the year. I take that time to reflect on my accomplishments...what I've actually achieved in the year that just passed.... and I realize that I've achieved absolutely nothing. So another year has gone by where nothing of extreme importance occurred... and it's time to gear up for another new year of most likely the exact same thing...unless you're lucky and something good actually happens.
It's a mixed, complicated thought when the holiday season rolls around. Believe it or not, I try to lose myself in the good of it all, the supposedly happy feelings that are surrounding me. But I find that every year, my thoughts drift to the things I mentioned, especially when January 2nd rolls around and things are just about the same as they were before the holiday season began...except people are now broker than usual.

I do but dont look forward to Christmas.I was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio.Always snow on Christmas there.Just moved to a small town in Texas and it only snowed a few times in 30 years. It just aint Christmas without snow. The only reason I look forward to Christmas is it`s a religious holiday and I have 6 boys.Love to see their faces when they open their gifts. My 22 month old should really get into Christmas this year.

I absolutely love the holiday season, the only part I don't like is putting up with my family. So I usually go away. Now they go away too. I don't have to buy stupid gifts....one pressure off. I don't have to explain why I'm not married yet...another pressure off. I don't have to listen to my dad blather on about politics and try to figure out if I'm secretly a democrat....yeah!
