My in-laws have a second home about an hour away from where we live. My husband is their only son and they constantly rely on him to take care of anything in both homes that requires physical labor since both of them have some physically-limiting conditions. This weekend there are things that need immediate attention in our own home (we just discovered a snake den) yet my in-laws insist that my hubby go to home #2 this weekend and remove the dock from the water. I've talked to my husband before about putting his foot down and figuring out some alternative ways to get them some help (hiring someone, etc.) but he feels guilty saying no to them. By the way, we also have a 1-year-old who loves his daddy time on the weekends. My husband is stretched and I don't know what to do.

I know that if I decided to become a dad I would be a good one. I just can't decide if I want to be one. I would have to give up life as I know it.
Is a life without kids just as rewarding?

For example there are couples with 10, 15 or more children, should there be a limit on how many children they should have, or should people just ignore it, and not give their opinions.

Brian asked:

How can I get my older brothers to stop spanking me?
My parents are usually gone, so my older brothers (2 years and 4 years senior) spank me when I get in trouble.
Additional Details
My parents are usually gone, so my older brothers (2 and 4 years my senior) have my parent's permission to spank me if I get in trouble

===============================================

Hmmm, is there anything wrong with older brothers being permitted, in the absence of the parents, to provide discipline and punishment for a younger brother when he gets "in trouble"? Brian seems opposed to older brother spanking him when he gets in trouble. He doesn't mention about the severity, etc. of the spankings nor of them being unwarranted.

Seems we teens are opposed to PUNISHMENT, not just to being spanked.

But, why should teens, corporate executives, and politicians be the only ones exempt from punishment?

My dad is this big business magnet around 500+ ppl work for him,
The problem is that he is good at times, but most of the time he is verbally abusive.

He does give me what ever I want( I rarely ask anything though) and he has helped me to pay for my University too.

But he's shouts at me telling me I am stupid ,and wont amount to anything in life etc..infront of everyone.( I am not lazy or stupid at all...I get more than 90% and every prof in the university has a good opinion about me).

But my dad never accepts I am good, and treats me like some 3rd person and yells at me for some reason or the other. So I rarely talk to him at all.But his words really hurt me.

I dont need all the gizmos and cool stuff he buys me...I just want a few words of encouragement from him!.And I feel psychologically I have started to accept what my dad says about me,cause I hear it all the time.My confidence level is fading slowy.

So is my dad abusive or is it I could be wrong?

My mom and brother live with me and I have been charging them very minimal rent. I have a 3 bedroom and 2 bath with garage (converted to a bedroom) which makes it 4 bedrooms. I can get $2000 a month if I rent it out, I live in Sylmar California. At this point I get $700.00 total from them as it is, and I told them if I move to buy me another house or move with my boyfriend that I would expect 1/2 market value a month $1000.00 total because I prefer them there than strangers living here. Am I being greedy or fair???

my bf and i broke up with him and then he visited me a couple of times before my school started since i thought he was going to another univerity than me.the coincidence is that we ran into each other a couple of days ago at my univeristy only to figure out that he is also going there. i was shocked, confused and surprised since i knew that my folks would take it hard. lately we have gotten back together with out telling either of our families and last night i told my mom that i ran into him and that we had lunch. she was disappointed in me since my bf at one point would not tell me the place he was attending and would call home. later on i called my sis and she also gave me the same lecture as my mom and how i have no self respect and so forth to which i replied that i do have self respect to which i cursed her out. i have no people believing in me nor what i do and think that this guy is bad news just from looking from the outside of matters. can someone plz give some advice?

Only reason I am asking is because I feel totally weird calling her mom, but my husbands other two brothers wives call her mom. I was married before and called my mother-in-law by her first name. I guess I feel like an outsider since I am new to the family.

I work fulltime,no school. Do my laundry, rotate with 20yr old sister on kitchen cleaning, take out trash, help clean house. Parents provide meals, food, utilities, shelter, dad does yard work. Im responsible for my entertainment, cell phone, cloths, all phases of auto, medical, personal toiletries. Parents said I must pay $400 monthly to help cover utilities bills, groceries. My rules will not change, won't have any say in how house is ran. LIVING HOME & NO SCHOOL AT 21yr-- MUST PAY $200 MONTLY + RULES,PERSONAL PRODUCTS. Standing rule since we can remember--Now They've added this on & gave me notice that it would increase in 60days,new standing rule for sister at 24.Said divided monthly bills by 4,Mom works parttime--dad fulltime. Im upset, I'd like to move next yr but I only make $1200 monthly. Does this sound FAIR?
