I need to take a female family member away for a day/evening. She's very stressed and I think that a nice day/night away would do her some good. We don't have much money, so a spa is out and she's not that into her looks so a manicure or pedicure wouldn't work either. I was thinking of taking her to the bars, but I wanted something to do for the afternoon and evening. Any suggestions would help!!

For example if a mother told a child that an unmarried man and woman can't live together, or an unmarried man and woman can't have a baby? If you are in one of the named situations, and the child asks you about it, should you just go along with the mother's lie, or explain that the mother thinks that it shouldn't happen but it actually does.

Let me start by saying I live 1000 miles from the rest of my family. My mom came to visit me last week and while she was here my grandma was put in the hospital. The two of them live together. Well, when my sister took her she took off my grandmas socks off and notice that she had fungus all over her feet ,she stunk really bad and she hasn't apparently had a shower in weeks maybe months. She is 85. My sister said that she is not being taken care of by my mother. My mom obviously has some mental problems and her dog pees ALL over her house, it is DISGUSTING. I refuse to even visit them. Well, my sister told my mom that if she doesn't straighten up that she is going to take my grandma. I think my mom will loose her mind and i'm scared what she might do if this happens. I need to get my grandma out of this situation but I don't have the slightest idea what I can do from here.

my dad died about a year ago, 2 days after i turned 14. I have 4 sisters and one brother, so naturally my brother took it the worst, in my opinion. My dad and i were very close, he was always there for me. I know teenage girls like myself go to their mother for everything, but my mom and i really dont get along. Most people tell me it is just a phase, and when i graduate and am no longer living in the house, things will change and we will become very close. I dont see that happening. My mom and i get into arguments almost everyday. Mostly because she blames me for every stupid thing she could possibly think of that has happened around the house. Mostly I have no one to vent to and i WILL NOT go to therapy, so when we argue i just yell and scream at her, like she does to me. I need to do something about this situation because now i am getting very strong stress headaches that often brings me to the doctor. Home life gets worse everyday. any suggestions?

What is your opinion about a 20-year old woman that wants to cut her parents out of her life because she feels they have bad influence on her psyche and stay in the way of her development as an individual?...Bear in mind that these parents have never done anything obviously outrageous against her and would probably be considered normal parents by anyone. However, she doesn't feel any kind of attachment and responsibility towards them...I want you to be her judges.Comments,please.

My grandmother is a complete rotten lying (b)itch (read on and you shall see why, and this is only things that have happend in the last 3 months). She has cost my mother her job, by convincing the lady she took care of to call in and fire her. She has hurt my feelings saying that I'm a horrible young woman because I'm serving my country and I"m a soon to be single mom. She was rude and hateful to my now deceased grandfather and she wants money so badly that she is digging into her son (my father) to force him to sell things that were my grandpa's that he wants to keep.

Now, I want this woman to have nothing to do with my child but I feel that I am obligated to tell the woman to kiss my *** and what I think of her lying ways. Am I wrong for this? Or should I just stop talking to the woman all together?

I have a younger half sister who has not always been part of my life (she is my dad's daughter and lived most of the time with her mother but sometimes with my dad, i lived with my mother) recently we have started talking to eachother and texting eachother, i am worried that she is making mistakes, unfortunately she did not have a sound and secure upbringing like me, my mother always gave me the best of everything and looked after me fantastically, whereas her mother had other children and put her to one side, used her as a free babysitter etc, now my sister is really struggling she is 17 years old and has no job, and no prospects, she was invited to join a hair salon as an apprentice but decided after the tests etc that she didnt want to do that and now she doesnt even look for a job, she also seems quite promiscuous, even though she assures me she has never been in a sexual relationship, what can i do 2 guide her, as everyone else seems fed up with trying because she just wont listen

What would be the best way to travel there from Georgia, I do not want to drive. What would be better by bus or plane? I know a plane ticket costs a lot.
If not California, what are some places I could go to start raising a family and find a good paying job?
I love Hispanic/Latino women.

I've always thought that having at least two kids is preferable to a single child. It seems there would be advantages to a child and growing up to have a brother or sister to grow up with and have to sometimes deal with. Aside from parental overhead (two more expensive to raise than one, more to supervise, etc etc) I'm curious to hear pros and cons / thoughts on this matter. I'd especially be interested to hear what people who have children think.

What is it like for a child to grow up in a violent home?
Chaos: The children may never know what to expect at home. Their
parents' mood can change instantly from loving to enraged.
Fear and tension: The daily anger and violence create a living
nightmare for the children. They may grow up being afraid of
everything and trusting no one.
Danger: Often, the children are the intended victim of one or both
parents. Other times, they get caught in the middle and are hurt or
killed by accident.Confusion: The children often receive mixed messages. For example:
at school they learn hitting is wrong, at home they learn that
hitting is used to "solve" problems.
solation: Often, an abusive parent shuts off the family from the
outside world. And the children may withdraw from their peers and
other adults too.
Hopelessness: The children often blame themselves for the violence
but they feel powerless to prevent, stop or escape from

My boyfriend recently obtained his children. His daughter is very much a daddy's girl. We are planning to move in together at the end of the year and marry next year. This child will not let her Dad and I get within 10 feet of each other. If I make a comment about doing something to our house she will correct me that it is Dad's house. She is 8 and I am trying to help her deal with all of this. Any ideas? I want us to be able to be a family.
