You're not being selfish, you're looking out for yourself and your son. So If you're being anything I'd say it's being a good parent. It makes absolutely no sense for you to quit your job to watch her child. That is only creating less money for the household to function on. I'd tell her straight up. "I'm working to put food on the table, you're working to go to school. Which is more important?" If she has a problem with someone watching her child while she works a side job to pay for school, then SHE needs to make arrangements for the child's care or quit HER job. Unless of course she's willing to pay you your normal wages to watch the child.

Are you contributing to the rent/util/food? If you're contributing regularly, I think you should be able to make your own decisions. If not (which I think you stated), than you are kinda at a disadvantage. If you're only working to support yourself, than that can be construed at selfish. But at the same time, you are trying to contribute. Perhaps, though, babysitting your nephew/niece might be a better contribution.
Obviously you two are both adults, so I think you two (maybe include your mom) need to sit down and talk about what is expected of everyone in the household. If you have your own bills (car, cell, tuition, etc) to pay, working less is obviously going to hurt you a lot. Your sister needs to realize that cutting your hours might not be possible at all.

is this in a relatives abode or do you 2 proportion. You the two use the dishes why won't be able to you the two wash them. OR Use paper and plastic, then you definitely'll merely have pots and pans. Wait until the day you have a husband, toddlers, and paintings finished time just to return abode and put in yet another 40 hours. I even have in no way had a husband wash a unmarried dish and that they take greater time than a new child. you haven't any longer have been given any precise to ask her to end her interest because you're inconvenienced. shame on you.

I guess I don't understand where the full problem is. Do you watch each other's kids? Is that why it matters that each of your jobs "conflicts"? I'd say keep your job. She can learn to skimp on what she's already making, find a different hour 2nd job, or learn to deal with the fact that your jobs conflict (maybe find a teenage babysitter for the conflicting weekend hours). ....Maybe she's hoping if you can't pay that you won't live there anymore. :(

You have great answers with your question. For me, you should not quit your job. Both of you have needs. Especially that you both have kids. You both help out each other so she has no right to call you selfish. Besides it is your job, responsibilities to take care of your son's needs not hers. And your not oblige to look after her kids too. But you could always lend a hand whenever you can. Right? If you quit, soon she will realize that you & your son will be a burden for her. And she will say something mean to you. So don't let this happen. Stay with your job. Help out whenever you can. But don't feel obligated to her own needs.

Help when you can, but don't change your life to accommodate your sister. I would not quit just b/c she wants you to. You have to provide for yourself and your boy. Sounds like you are helping out as often as you can, so keep up the good work.
I wouldn't call you selfish. You have to watch out for you and your son. That is not selfish. Does she pay you the weekends that you watch him?? She needs to realize that she isn't the only one with a son, and a career.
