I need to take a female family member away for a day/evening. She's very stressed and I think that a nice day/night away would do her some good. We don't have much money, so a spa is out and she's not that into her looks so a manicure or pedicure wouldn't work either. I was thinking of taking her to the bars, but I wanted something to do for the afternoon and evening. Any suggestions would help!!

Go to a movie before going out, Or you two could work together and cook a meal together... I find it VERY relaxing to just cook in the kitchen and talk with my husband. It relaxes me.

If she's interested in athletics, take her to a driving range, or to play a round of golf, or play miniature golf. A minor-league ball game might be fun, if they're around and the season isn't over.

Go see a first-run movie, and have a nice dinner after. If you have one nearby, Panera Breads has a good menu that won't break the bank.

Go see a show at a local or community theatre.

Or find something completely different that she hasn't done before, or wouldn't think of trying herself. Try bowling, target shooting, archery, a museum, a stock car race, canoeing...

Hopefully one of these will sound interesting, or give you an idea for something even more appropriate.

Take her to a nice restaurant she has never been to. Maybe one that plays live music or there are some that even cook in front of you. Don't know what city you are in but try searching the web for places in your city. While you are there on line go ahead and look for a relaxation spa. They are not as expensive as may believe them to be. a massage will really take away built up stress

If you live near a major city, take her to a special museum for a wander around and discussion of beautiful art. Then a small luncheon someplace with a view. Wrap it up with a comedy film, or a "woman's picture" (excuse me ladies) and a cup of tea and a croissant before heading home.
And try to really listen to her all day!

I always find water soothing. If you live near the beach or a body of water, put together a little basket of food and drinks and hang out for a few hours. Instead of conversing, just sit (or lay) back and listen to the sounds of nature.

A park for a picnic or a nice long walk. A drive to the next city just to sight see.

take her to the movies then a nice dinner and maybe a walk on the beach. before you do all this, get on the freeway, roll up the windows, and have her scream as loud as she can then maybe even cry. it works. doint this and then having a relaxing day will make her feel less stress.

Find a really beautiful park, and go for a picnic, with blanket, and wine, and flowers.

Or rent a boat and take a ride on the water.
