You must examine the era of time first before we get into modern day morality. Adam and Eve are a symbol of mankind, they were apart of the plan to multiply the earth when the population was small. Now, aside of that the bible says that in the beginning when God created male and female he named them Adam; which only means Man (spirit). Everybody was named Adam in that era of time. So, what makes you think that they Adam and Eve were the only two people on earth? Other people were in and around the garden of eden! Now, why is incest wrong??? MMM, I guess other than moral issues, and aside of the fact that there are so many women to choose from, it is a scientific truth that it cause birth defects. Not all the time, but sometimes. Hope I helped you out.

Since I wasn't living back then or at least I don't think so-(DARN SNAKE)! It could have been that God also created other people and Adam and Eve were kind of like the leaders-he may have created others before or after the fall from grace! Any way incest makes the children born from such a union weaker in body and mind-Dr. Phil's opinion (I think) is that second cousins are o.k. when having children-I always thought that it was third cousins-This is just my opinion! Brothers and sisters should not have children together!!!!!!!!! Cain found his wife in the land of NOD!

Mmmmm, someone told me that God had already created more people by that time. When Cain left after killing his brother, he married a woman, so Adam and Eve might have been the first to be created directly from God, but i doubt they were the last that God personally made.
Mmmmm, about that handicap that children bron from incest have, I think we suffered from it too. Adam lived to be almost 1000 years, but as the kids and grandkids kept coming, our lifespans shortened. The lesson here is : Don't screw a reletive 'cause you'r kids will live 10 years shorter than you.

A Christian friend of mine once told me that Adam and Eve's children mated with neanderthals (which were part of the animal kingdom that God created before he created man).
So that's the incest magicked away - what about the problem of bestiality?
The irony is that that's exactly what an evolutionist would argue - of course there was inter-species breeding in the evolution of homosapiens!
PS If the Adam & Eve story is meant to be allegorical (which it is), why did its authors make it difficult by giving them three sons and no daughters. If there were daughters there would be incest but at least we wouldn't have to contend with the idea of Eve mating with her sons!

After there became enough people on the earth, God gave men laws to live by. In Leviticus 18, God told the people not to lay with anyone near of kin to themselves. By doing so, He spread the gene pool out and made the people more versatile, but at the same time, He told His people Israel not to marry the sons and daughters of the other nations. This kept the Jewish people separate from the other nations, because they were chosen and set apart as God's chosen people.

The story of Adam and Eve is symbolic of the great shift, when humans walked out of the jungle. It is not a literal story. The difference between a human and all other animals is that we have the ability to reason.

i think of the toddlers of Adam and Eve, for some generations down, have been granted with the two male and lady chromosomes and each had a particular ability to reproduce on his or her very own. After some generations there have been greater than a number of person who did no longer have comparable mothers and dads and hence they could chosen a better half out area his or her relatives.

I don't think you'll ever get a correct explanation because everyone interprets the Bible in their own way. I've often wondered the same thing myself and that's just one of many reasons why I can't believe what the Bible says. For me it gives more questions than answers and it's too contradictory, not to mention incomplete.

It's your assumption that is incorrect. You assume there were no other people around to copulate with.
Don't take the Bible so literal -- there were plenty of other people around. The story of Adam and Eve is an allegory. Seek the meaning of the allegory and be happy. And above all, do not commit incest.

That's because it's biblical history NOT real history.
Eve was originally NOT Adam's first wife, LIlith was. But she and Adam had a falling out, and she went her own way.
Many scholars believe that after Cain killed his bro he met Lilith and they settled in the Land of Nod.
Either that or god pulled another creation around the next corner.
