I would tell him exactly what you just told us. That you're going away to school and would like to spend more time with him before you do.

Yeah, tell him exactly what you told us and ask him if there is anything fun or exciting he would like to do before you leave. If not, try coming up with something fun for both of you to do. He's 16 years old so you might have to think of something creative to get him involved or come up with something that will get his attention. Try to offer doing something that you know he likes. Suggest going to the movies, amusement park, bowling, sporting event or again ask him if there's anything he would like to do. Tell him that you're going out of town (i'm sure he's already aware) and you will miss him dearly so you wanted to know if the two of you could hang out someday and spend some time together before you go.

Tell him that it would mean a lot to you if he would take some time to spend it with you - maybe establish a day for the two of you - do something fun - is there a amusement park near by?

Maybe he doesnt know how much this means to you. Explain it to him, and then ask him what he wants to do. Maybe he thinks that you dont want anything to do with him. Brothers are funny, sometimes they just need a good hard smack in the head of reality.
One thing to try is maybe a fun weekend traveling to the college that you will be going to. Teenage boys like meeting new people, especially college girls.
Good luck, I think your brother will come around. Just be patient

What kind of stuff does he like to do? That way you can do stuff that he likes to do, and you should suggest going to a movie or just hanging out. Definitly tell him what you told us too. My little brother lives in a different city, so I have the same problem.

I think you should see what he likes to do, then try doing something he likes. If it's something he's interested in then he'd probably be more interested in doing it. Just as long as there's no pressure or anything of that nature. Yall should have a good time & relax. Just remember it's not all about what you want to do.

Find out his interests, and ask if he wants to do that interest(s) ahead of time. Make plans to do something HE wants. He's obviously not going to want to hang out with you and do something you like when he could be out with his buddy's doing what he likes. Sorry, but you'll have to bite the bullet and have a boring day...

Just call him up and tell him that you have planned for the both of you to go to the mall and lunch and a movie. See how he takes this planned out date.

well you should tell him exactly what you just wrote.
Tell him that you would like to spend time with him before you leave. That way he can fit you into his schedule...teen boys are always busy so don't take that to an offense.

Buy an Xbox 360. Just start playing it, and he will materialize next to you and worship you forever.
