and the wedding gifts was taken to the shower. The shower was the time to have a good time with her friends. Sometimes a 2nd shower was held with family invited. There wasnt a bachelorette party as that was the same thing as the shower with her friends. Those who did not attend either shower usually brought a gift to the wedding/reception. Nowadays it seems brides want a shower and a bachelorette party and expect gifts at both of them along with a gift to be given at the wedding. So there are 2 or 3 gifts expected and most people invited seem to agree with this. I know societal norms change with each generation and if it was an extravagant wedding and reception with sit down meal being served I would probably bring a 2nd gift to the wedding. As for "regular" weddings I only give the one gift as that is what was done in my time. I am 44 and definitely not a "fuddy duddy", but I think it is just selfishness to expect so much. Am I in the minority on this? Please no rude answers

I have been having an affair with a man for 9 months now. Please do not pass judgement..we fell in love with eachother. No children involved. I left my husband when I started having feelings for this other man, and at that point I knew I could not possibly love my husband if I had feelings for someone else so I left him, because I did not want to cheat. My affair man has been staying in a hotel for the past 2 weeks, he told his wife there was someone else, he wanted a divorce and he loved her but was not in-love with her. I feel sad for her that this is happeneing but; I love him so much my heart says to hang in there. She is begging him to hang in there, she does not want the divorce, and he feels so guilty for being in love with me and divorcing all together. He is out of town for 1 week and he is supposed to have it all figured out when he gets back.. he's not a bad guy, he has never done anything like this before.I am just having a really hard time going though this will he leave?

I am a single parent and i take care of my mother, i moved to ca from ny 6 years ago dont know anyone dont have any friends, my mom got sick and had to send her to nursing home, i see her everyday and love her very much, my kids are big and dont live with me, i met this man when i needed someone there i didnt expect to fall in love with him but it happend and everyday that goes by i feel really bad for his wife but he tells me that they dont have anything there anymore, i am so scared to loose him because i have no one and dont want to be alone, i know is bad but this man has been there for me when my mom almost died, when i slepped in the hospital floor near my mom this man would come visit and when i was feeling sad and depress he would be there for me. i dont know what to do , is been a year that he has been helping me deal with my problems, he says that he loves me and dont want to loose me but , i dont know what to do and how to let this go. he has been there 4 me. help pls

If you had a choice between two girls.... one you've known for 4 years, you guys connect on a level you've never connected on. She's beautiful with short dark hair and has a sense of humor. She does have kind of an emotional side which causes some strain between you sometimes.

The other is 4 years younger then you, she's cute, but not exactly the wittiest girl. She's blonde, completely opposite the other girl. She's into things completely opposite that you usually can not stand (things that you usually would not put up with) but you've just met her and are intrigued.....

Mostly it's just because my son has been so accepting of the situation. The ex had this girlfriend before we were even exes, so it's not like she's someone brand new...but still I'm a little bit hurt.

The new gf buys him toys and is getting him a new cell phone, and is into all of the things that he enjoys. My son talks to her all the time.

I feel like such a loser. But, I put on my happy face and encourage them to be friendly. I have never argued with my husband about her, cuz she's quite the lovely gal.

I'm just jealous, and I don't know how to fix that...

We live in Texas and my husband had no money to pay for his child support this month because of his disease-he had to retire. He will only be making 1200 a month from Teacher's Retirement(no check yet) now which makes it hard to make ends meet. His insurance alone will run him 300 and that doesn't include his medicine and doctor bills. He has to go to court Aug. 2nd and obviously he can't afford a lawyer. How do you all think they will calculate what he will owe? This is tough....We do want what is best for the children (4), we just don't have it to give. Will they take into consideration that he needs his medicine and insurance? (If he doesn't keep his insurance, he really will be in financial ruin.) He is currently trying to get on the transplant list.

I've been dating this incredibly sweet, sensitive guy for about 4 months now (we've been friends for about 9) and I've just got back from spending the most amazing weekend with him. Ok....Ever since I was a little girl I was interested in modeling, I love it & I've always waned to do it. I come from a kinda big fam. & no dad. My mom never really had money, still doesn't have money. I use to think you have to pay to be a model that's why my hopes on modeling went down for a big while. I was like, "nah...I could never do that" So I got married @ age 18, I have a little boy. My husband is in the Marine Corps, I'm a jealous person, they tell me why? if I'm very beautiful & still have a great body after having a baby. I don't like it wen my man looks @ pretty models in magazines, ect... I started looking into modeling, it's been my dream, found out you don't have to pay. I just found out that this guy who I was involved with afew years ago is married. He has been married since before I met him. He was such a nice guy, but by me finding out he has been married this whole time explains alot. I have his home phone number. When my mom or I tell them to look trough theirs for mine the refuse to do and they say that we are mean for telling them do to that. They also say that my brother has them. However when we look in my sister's room for mine we always find it in there. We tried putting my name on mine and there name on theirs but that is not working. I am 15 and my brother (22) is coming home from California after living there for about two or three years. He has put us (my sisters and I) through loads of hell, yet my father is still welcoming him back with open arms, even sending him money so he can come back. My brother lost his job, his apartment, everything, and is coming to stay at our house indefinitely. My dad is willing to put me out of MY room to put him in there, in MY bed. We have an extra bed in the basement, but no, nothing is too good for my brother. Not one of us (me and my sisters) want him to come home, because that would only create more problems for us, but it looks like it will happen anyway. I don't want to give up my bed, because I don't want him to get comfortable, because he's not staying for good. Should I tell my father my brother is NOT getting my bed? My sister told me to lay off, but I don't want him taking my room. I have personal things in there! So should I tell him, or keep quiet? Please help!
