Tell your cousin who is having the wedding you will pay her half of the costs of the liquor and whatever else it is she will either have to cover herself or go to your third cousin for the expense. If everyone knows that she never pays I doubt they would be shocked by your request.

What I would do is:

1. Tell volunteering cousin never ever to do that to you again.
2. If you are willing to help cousin getting married then go to THAT cousin and ask about how much the liquor bill will be. Agree to give a set amount to the marrying couple for the liquor for the wedding.

If the first cousin doesn't give any money for the liquor that is her problem and only she will look bad. The second cousin can either pay for some of the liquor her or his / self or keep the budget within the amount you gave for the wedding.

Tell her you cannot do it and that in the future, she should not volunteer you .
If she told the cousin who is getting married, then go to him/her and tell that cousin that you are sorry you are unable to pay; and you did not know that she volunteered you to pay. Say you are very sorry. That s it. It is simple and does not need to be complicated if you are firm. Better to address this now than at and or after the wedding when you will look like the bad guy and no one will know that she didnt pay. IT IS NOT YOUR JOB TO PAY

Make sure the bride knows that you can't pay for the liquor. Your cousin had absolutely no business volunteering your money. Just tell the bride she will have to make other arrangements.

First of all she had no right to volunteer you without asking you first. I would suggest you tell her you need her share of the money now so you can purchase the alcohol or give it to whoever is going to do that. If she doesnt come through then you need to talk to the bride or groom(whichever one is your family) and explain that she volunteered you without your knowledge and now she doesnt appear to have the money. Explain that you could not even afford to pay for half and certainly cannot afford to pay for all of it. Tell them you are letting them know now so they can make other arrangements. You should not feel bad or guilty because you did nothing wrong and you were taken advantage of.
