I know that nobody likes to be alone, but why do people settle on having these friendships with people who don't really care about them and will leave as soon as a little wind blows? I think that if a person has 30 friends, at least 20 of them are fake. What's wrong with people?

Had a few Q's already today and the answers compel me to try and figure out WTF is going on w/ my gf. No need to worry bout the details, but she says I deserve someone better than her and gives me the sad look when she says it, but then tells me she can't even begin to tell me how much she loves me. How do I convince her that I want her to be honest w/ me, that if she loves me but "not that way" I want her to just tell me so? I am so confused! we go out (sometimes!) and flirt like crazy w/ each other still, but the only real emptions she ever shows is this crap about how I should be w/ someone better than her. Isn't that selfish? That is my decision to make for me.

A year and a half ago I made friends with a girl my age from the USA from a pen pal website, I kow quite a bit about her including personal stuff. We both want to meet but she cant come here cause she doesnt have the money she cant find a job and her family are a bit mixed up and I can offord to go over there cause shes having really big problems and ive kinda grown attached and weve become quite close and ive helped her through quite a lot of moments. I know what she looks like and almost everything about her and like wise but im getting increasingly worried about her and want to go to see her but part of me thinks its a bad idea. Do you guys agree?. Another thing you should know is she is who she says she is everything adds up to the miniute detail.

When we met (in a bar, where I was sitting there smoking) he said it wasn't a big deal to him that I smoked and he didn't. For the first few weeks, he didn't say anything about it. I never smoked in his house, or allowed smoke to blow in his face, or smoked in close quarters, etc., because I have respect for his airspace. But nowadays, all he does is NAG me about smoking, is always checking to see how many cigarettes I have smoked in a day, tells me that all the money I "blow" on cigarettes could be used for something "important", etc. I'm getting tired of it! I don't want to quit and have told him this many times. He keeps saying that I don't have to quit, yet, every time I light up, he says something mean or rolls his eyes, etc. It's really starting to cause problems for us, and I don't know what to do. I love him, but I like my cigarettes, and don't feel like I should have to put up with this, especially since he initially said he was okay with it.

I know this has been asked many times, but when I go to the movies, this boy and I like eachother, and every time he asks me to make out with him, and I really want to, I just don't know how. I don't want to make a fool out of myself.

In August this man asked me to move in with him because he knew I was having back surgery in September. I quit my job, gave up my apartment, and moved all of my things to his house. He asked me to marry him and gave me a beautiful diamond ring. He suffers from PTSD which is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I found out he had been married 4x before. Everything was going well and we were happy until the first bout of PTSD took over. The next day he was remorseful. He called me everything but chocolate. He paid for all of my bills including my health insurance. I had the surgery on September 13th. He took care of me and I was very grateful. I am in rehabilitation for six months. The doctor doesn't want me to do anything but walk for another six weeks. My fiance then had another bout with PTSD,on Oct 9th. He took all of my things and threw them in the kitchen and asked me to leave. He took the ring back. I left on Oct 15th. Do I have any recourse? I have no job and no money

This is the dilemma: I used to have a dream about having a certain future... A future that was not really going to be happening for me, just because I had too much of fantasy what concerned love and life. (I was 17y)
Now 12 y later I found out that the person that I had this fantasy about, had exactly the same fantasy as me (and still)... We lost contact a few times during the years, but lately we talk a lot to eachother about anything and it really feels like a good friendship...

The only thing is that I do have a boyfriend (already for 7y now). And he is great too. But at the moment we are going to a rough time. I don't want to loose him because I really love him. (and I would never cheat him)But I sometimes miss the fireworks I heard about and I wonder if I should listen to what my heart told me all those years ago.
Is this foolish? Is there something like faith. Finding the one true love? Or is it just crap, and should I settle for what I have instead of what I could have?

I have been with the same guy for 5 years. We are both in our mid 20's but he talks of getting married and having kids. Of course i want to some day but not with him. Every time we are together we fight. He calls me nasty names and then says its my fault he gets mad. I dont do anything except go to work 40hrs a week and then i have a night class once a week. He accuses me of all sort of things. I cant even have girlfriends to hang out with. Now here is my dilemna. He is from Jamaica and doesnt have any family left here in the states. His mother and two sisters are in Jamaica so he feels lost. I try to be there for him but obviously its not enough because of how he treats me. I want to leave him so bad but he makes me feel guilty. he always says that no one cares about him and he should just kill himslef. If i leave him, then he will really be alone. Please help, i dont know what to do. On one hand i know i need to do things for myself, but i have a huge heart and feel guilty. Help!

I am NOT asking what I should do. I am curious about YOUR personal experience on this subject. I am interested in what it means for those that hang on to memories from the past by physical tokens and what causes a person to not keep things. Ok look there is this guy at my school that likes me and he tells me how pretty I am every day and he calls me like 4 times a day. If I am out sick one day he calls during linch to make sure I am ok.
