Primary & Secondary Education - January 2007

My Daughter has a science project due next month.(She's in 5th grade) It is suppose to be a demonstration. We had an project picked out but I don't think it is going to work and I am fresh out of ideas. I was hoping maybe some of you wonderfully smart people could give me an idea for a science project that could be demonstrated. Since my husband is in the National Guard we kind of wanted to do something military...but I am open to all ideas...any suggestion?

Should there be "Planning" class in 10th Class in India? Why Explain your answer.

Planning Class is for planning for future, that what to do? how to do? when to do?
I am here in Canada and I attend Planning class and I think it should be compulsory for students in India in 10th class. It tells you about who you are? your values, skills and all the personal stuff for identifying yourself. It also tells you how to be safe at workplace. It tells you about your legal rights as a worker, as a citizen and as yourself. You do research on job which you would like to join in. It's like 4 pages. It also tells you about making sexual decisions when you are adult or young. This also tells you about educational decisions to go in which colleges and universities. This course touches every part of your life. It tells you a lot of information and this course is fun. I would reccomend that there should be "Planning" in 10th Class.

I know that schools keep giving more and more homework everyday, and I think that they are putting to much stress on the kids, not to mention that carrying home all those books can't be good for their backs. Does anybody else agree?

my school which is los alamitos high school was named to have the worst freshman class this year which sux because ima freshman. but after formal i can see why. people were like having sex in the bathroom and on the dancefloor believe it or not and doing drugs of course! i even walk into the bathroom and people were like doin it gross. but if you would of heard about this what would you think about it?

I live in south FL and I'm not sure which school I should go to. I'm in all gifted classes and looking to go to an Ivy League school.The public school is the biggest in the state with 5000 kids and its extremely overcrowded, so the 9th graders have to go to a different location with portables which is 20 min. away from my home. I also have to wake up at 5 am to get ready because the bus comes at 6:20. But at the private school, I'd have to leave my friends and its 30 min. away, and doesn't have transportation, which is a problem. The private school has strict uniform and less diverse student body. It's a better school, more extracirricular activities, and amazing campus but I've went to public all my life and it may be hard to adjust. It also isn't the typical high school experience because its college prep. Which should I go to?

I need to study for this test tomorrow and I (a) can't focus (that's why i'm on here) (b) hate studying (c) haven't really studied much at all and (d) have a hard time memorizing everything
does anyone have any tips to make it easier, or even, dare i say it, fun? It can be on any subject but specifically social studies science and math. I always leave studying till the last minute too. ANY (useful) tips are welcome, and the sooner, the better. Thnx!

I like to know your opinion.
Do you think it's right for her kindergarten teacher to tell the children all kind of things come up her mind??
A day I told my daughter that if she doesn't feel good at school, I could teach myself in my house.
Few day late she come back from school and told me the techer told my child that if I decide keep her home, the police will came a put me in jail. (I didn't really good that somebody told my child this)
Another time I asked her to write something, she don't knew what she could write, I told her make up a fantasy story, she told me that if she will the police will take her in jail for lie.
Today she come back with anote from the teacher:-If snow is predicted we will turn out and backwards, and put a spoon under our pillows. I asked my daughter why all this and she answered:- so it will snow more.
Any time she come back at home with strange ideas.
