Of course you can. Most schools I have seen have a 14 day rule. Most schools will let you go ahead and get away with it if it is a reasonable reason and you attempt to make every day from now on. It is definately possible to fail due to attendance. My niece failed the second grade with straight A's and in gifted just because her mother didn't feel like taking her/

different school systems have different rules. Locally yes you can fail the grade for non-attendance. Unless it involves a medical excuse like a hospital stay and that is still a limited amount of missed time.

Yes you can, if you miss X amount of days they can hold you back and can even hold your parents, if you are under 18 (if older hold you) in Truancy court. I believe its something like 10-25 dollars a day that you missed, gets insane really, I had a friend who had this happen, he wasn't pleased to say the least.

It depends on whether your district, school or teachers have an attendance policy. As most [all?] districts are paid both federal and state money for every day you attend school...chances are they have an attendance policy. It usually does not even matter if your absences are excused.

Yes you have to attend a certain number of hours in the school year to pass. Check with your counselor
