Primary & Secondary Education - January 2007

Do people really have no time to spell their questions and their answers correctly? Or have they been sent through the school system without anybody bothering to check their spelling?

Have we let SMSs dictate how we spell or do we depend on the spell checks in our computers? Do parents have no time to check their children's homework or were they not taught properly in thier turn?

Do we take no pride in how we communicate? Our answers change other people's lives be it by resolving a doubt, teaching them something they didn't know, by bringing a smile to their faces or a fond memory to their minds.

i drive older cars that i own, and fix up. i live in a house that i own and am rebuilding. i shop at used stores to buy close and stuff that i need. i have a injoyable home intertianment center. but its not all brand new. i save plenty of money for buying my tools, and traveling , and have a nuff money saved in case i want to change my life, i am not in a trap. am i missing out ? i feel like woman dont think i am good enough for them because i dont have the flashy things, but i would rather live this way than the other way (in dept all the time) am i missing out ? should i change ? how do people really look at me what do they think ? men and woman both. and i allso have plenty of money to buy good beer, dark and light. but i prefur dark i like it all as long as its a micro. help me should i change and expereince what its like to have more and live in dept is it worth it ?

Why is it that I have to fight to get the right level of work for my children at school? My eldest has been labelled gifted and talented and my youngest is one step ahead of how he was at that age. I feel worn out constantly trying to keep them occupied. The school readily helps those that are behind but not those ahead. They are wasting their time at school but I can not give them all they need at home. Advice would be appreciated.

During recess, we have to queue up till we are all sweaty and hot and stuffy and uncomfortable due to all the pushing and shoving. Then, a typical teacher in school just walks in front of the queue and gets the privillege of being served first! wth... Do you agree that it's unfair for teachers to cut the queue or not?? I am referring to most teachers I know so far and not ALL so dun feel offensive if you are one.

My son, age 12, has struggled through school his entire life. He is fidgety, probably slightly ADD, has a problem with organizational skills, etc. He is also small for his age and the constant subject of verbal mocking/abuse by a lot of his classmates because of his size.

I had a conference w/his teachers in November and was told he had started off poorly, but was making great progress. Last week, without any warning, he was put on a system of accountability because many times he forgets to turn in his homework. Now he has to carry around a folder and each of his teachers (total of 6) have to check it each day for homework, behavior, supplies, focus in class, etc. It is HIS responsibility to get it checked - if he does not get it checked on time by each teacher, he gets a U for Unsatisfactory for all the points above. When he accrues a certain number of U's he gets a detention.

Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions on this?

My little brother is in 1st grade and is having a really hard time. I don't want him to struggle like I have in my 10 years of school. Ok I dropped out in 11th grade do to major problems but I never have signed any papers and I want to start homeschooling next year because I feel so damn inferior to everyone, I feel I failed my life after thae hardships I endured at School, like a comeback after comebacks, I want my friends and parents proud of me I must graduate do you think there is a chance of me getting into homeschooling?
