I am technically now a senior (just finished my jr year) and was interested in applying for some, and wanted to get a really good head start before everyone else so I don't have to write those lame required essays during school days, but I was wondering if it's too early to apply for a scholarship looking for applicants who "are applying or will be applying to an accredited institution." Is it too early to apply?

Secondly, I was wondering around what time of the year most students fill out their college applications, as well. Is it too early to fill out the Common Application, even if I don't send it in yet?

Thanks!

I am a future teacher, I would love to share ideas with anyone majoring in education! We've got some serious work to do, especially in low-budget schools. Please share your ideals, philosophies, etc. with me either here or on my group page, teachersofthefuture.

I was listening to one of those political debate radio stations the other day and I heard mention that in California, some schools will at some point start promoting homosexuality in schools. I am not against homosexuals, but I did not think it was right to ban religion from schools and then promote homosexuality in school. What ever happened to just teaching history, math, etc. in schools?

There is a Chinese immersion program in my local school district. Math and science are taught in Chinese (Mandarin) to children who join; they can join in kindergarten. The Chinese program runs through high school.

At the same elementary school, art, phys ed, music, and Spanish are "Specials". The children take one Special for a two-week period, and the Specials rotate, so each child has one Special for two weeks and then does not have that Special again for six weeks.

(1) Would you send your child to this type of program and (2) what do you think about the way "Specials" are taught?

All answers are appeciated.

(If it IS true, it would go a long way to explaining a few things.)

Did you have spelling textbooks and workbooks in grade (elementary) school...? We did, and for several years running.

I just purchased a set of books from a student selling door-to-door for the Southwestern Company out of Nashville.Tn. I had never heard of the company; apparently theyve been in business since 1868, and I looked them up on the internet. They seem legitimate; however, I still feel a little queasy about post-dating a check for 200 and some dollars to get books that will be delivered in August. Anyone else ever purchased books from this company?

1) How hard is it to get into med-school?
2) I know you need a lot of science. Last year in science I had an A+ throughout the entire year. I'm taking Biology next year instead of the regular science course. What other science classes will help me? Or what other classes in general?
3)What are some med-schools out there?
