THIS IS NOT A RACIST QUESTION. Just wondering because it came up in another question. All these people crying because there isnt a white history month, give me some good reasons why there should be a whole month deticated to something that is already taught. Good reasons only. No insults!

As a secondary school teacher in south london it is common to see groups of black s reluctant to let go of their hair jellies during lessons. They are always applying these hair preparations and constantly using the mirrors.

I have a few concerns that the method of jolly phonics is not the best way to teach a child how to write. My daughter writes everything as it sounds for example, pleese instead of please, woshin up instead of washing up.Is this a normal thing to notice as a parent. Is it true that they banned jolly phonics as a teaching method in the 60's.

I have kids in an alternative school and I just found out today that I have to come up with some projects for them to work on this year! I need some ideas. Any ideas are welcome, except those from you wise guys out there, and you know who you are. I need some serious help, so go be sarcastic somewhere else! Thanks in advance to the serious answers.

I'm a junior this year and after failing algebra1 three consecutive times i'm finally in Geometry. It's only the second week of school and I am already getting confused. So towards the end of the year I'm sure i'll be busting my brain just to figure out what my teacher is talking about :(

I hate higher math soooooo much it's so confusing I look like some retarded dude in front of the freshman

Anyone else hate geometry and barely made it through it in high school?

I completed my PGCE this summer and have experience working with children of all ages with behavioural/ emotional/ learning difficulties from previous employment. I can't find a teaching job, but I can find other social services type jobs which I am suitable for. I really want to work. Should I give up on my wasted year doing the PGCE (thanks for the £6000 Mr Blair, what a waste) or should I hold out for the teaching job I really want?

I am currently a rising junior, and plan to take my SAT's during june of this school year. I am planning to atleast commit 30 min a night to SAT studying. I am having problems preparing for the test. I have many books ranging from barron's, Kaplan, and Princeton review, but i need books or that really work, if you have any suggestions i am open to them. And also if you would be kind enough to give me and websites or study ideas or plans, thank you.
