I really like teachers and hope the link below will help. It is for teachers and has some good projects about lightening.
OK!, You got me back again. Thought of something that might work for you. Company XYZ makes top secret widgets and your class has the task of selecting the new employees by coming up with questions to ask new applicants. Each student does research to find a good question and answer with references. These are given to you and you make a copy to go in a box without the students name. Each student draws a question, not his own, and does his own research and presents the question and answer to the class. Each member of the class has only one vote at the end on the question or answer that they think is best. The person that gets the most votes gets the job. You grade all students based on your criteria.
You could let them all go look for a job and grade them on their efforts. Not sure what your students are capable of so it is hard to be more specific.
If you really want something easy and quick, let them put topics you approve of in a box and then draw out a topic and give a three to five minute speech without preparation.
Just a quick thought, but maybe you can make something out of it.

RE:
I need ideas for senior high school students projects!?
I have kids in an alternative school and I just found out today that I have to come up with some projects for them to work on this year! I need some ideas. Any ideas are welcome, except those from you wise guys out there, and you know who you are. I need some serious help, so go be sarcastic...

You can brain storm answers with the students they are very intelligent and some of them will be entering college soon anyhow. Just give them a composition to write on about new school projects. I am sure they will have good ideas and they will be happy to stick to it and make it a success since they created it and it wasn't forced upon them. Just ask them the basic Wh questions as a reference point to stick to the basics at first. Also they can work on the projects as a group so that all participate. There are many ways and ideas but it would be nice to let them brainstorm.

i thought my senior project was a good idea. it was a couple years ago so i dont remember all of the details but i can try. we had to do volunteer work ( 15 hours i think) to any organization. and then do a paper on it about what we did, what we learned, and include a picture for proof. another option to it was to work along side with someone who is in the career field that you planned on being in. just to basically learn the ins and outs of the job and maybe even make a contact for when you graduate. that option also included an essay.

I think Cal has a good idea. Find the average wages for your town/city in places like Starbucks, movie theatres, retail stores, grocery stores, etc. basically places where 18 year olds usually work. Give them that as a budget, and have them put together a paper/posterboard that includes gas, car insurance, car payment, rent, groceries, utilities, cell phone, etc. based on prices around your area. I would have loved it if someone had made me do this when I was a senior.

Make them do a Project about Real life, Make them find a car, apartment and see how much thingsd actually cost. They have to see how much cable/phone etc. costs. Also price out things like appliances and make an entertainment budget, food budget, then they can start to realize the importance of saving money, and appreciate and understand the value of money

Have them raise money for a cool field trip out of town at the end of the year, or to pay for something nice for the school. It will give them pride in what they are doing, something to look forward to, and a lesson in planning ahead.
